Genshin Impact is a team-building game at its core. While powerhouses such as Eula, who can perform well without any proper teammates, certainly exist the true stars of the game are those who can synergize with and make use of other great characters.

Genshin Impact: Best Weapons For Hu Tao
The funeral director can be deadly with any of these weapons.
While Hu Tao
isn’t that strong on her own, her ability to trigger Vape on every single one of her Charged Attacks makes her one of the strongest DPS characters in the game. However, you may need certain characters to see her in all her glory. Here are the characters you can use to make the best Hu Tao team!

Candace
Candace
has long been a character without a proper team. While her Elemental Skill was a simple parry with no synergy, her ability to give Hydro-infusion to her teammates with her Elemental Burst did enable certain niche teams, such as a Xingqiu
on-field carry. However, she never saw the spotlight due to other characters simply doing her job better.
Surprisingly, Candace makes for one of Hu Tao’s strongest teammates, but only if you have her constellation six. Her base kit already helps Hu Tao, with her Elemental Burst increasing the Elemental DMG of Normal Attacks, and her fourth Ascension Passive further granting Hu Tao a damage boost based on Candace’s HP. All she needs is off-field Hydro application, something that her sixth constellation grants her.

Sucrose
Any DPS benefits from an Anemo teammate, due to them being able to hold Viridescent Venerer, one of the strongest artifact sets in Genshin Impact. This set reduces enemy RES to the Swirled element, and Sucrose
herself grants a DMG boost, as well as bonus Elemental Mastery to her teammates when she uses her Elemental Burst.

Building the best artifact set can greatly improve your character in Genshin Impact, and here’s a look at the best sets and effects in the game.
However, using an Anemo character with Hu Tao can be tricky. Since Hu Tao can’t apply Pyro without putting her skills on cooldown, you need to use a second Pyro unit like Bennett
to do so. This forces you to only have a single Hydro character in your party, making team building more difficult. This also makes you lose out on Hydro Resonance, something that greatly benefits Hu Tao’s HP-scaling kit.
7
Kazuha
Many deem Kaedehara Kazuha
to be the five-star version of Sucrose. While there are certainly differences, this stands mostly true for Hu Tao teams. Kazuha provides better buffs, granting you a boost to your Elemental DMG Bonus, while also letting you perform Double Swirls, increasing both Hu Tao and your Hydro teammate’s DPS.
You can Double Swirl by applying Pyro to yourself with Bennet’s Burst and applying Hydro on an enemy. This buffs both your Pyro and Hydro DPS, making Kazuha an extremely strong pick for teams that use Yelan especially.
Kazuha also has another advantage over Sucrose. Where Sucrose pretty much needs Xingqiu in order to keep up with Hu Tao’s quick Pyro application, Kazuha can infuse Hydro into his Burst while also swirling Pyro, letting even characters like Yelan or Furina have enough Hydro application to Vape all of Hu Tao’s hits.

Bennett
Hu Tao doesn’t work well with healers. She gets a huge DMG Bonus when below half HP, and losing out on this can greatly reduce her DPS. However, if you find yourself dying often, putting Bennett
in the team as a healer lets Hu Tao be at a healthy amount of health while also offsetting the DPS loss by Bennett’s huge ATK buff.
If you have Bennett’s sixth constellation, he becomes an even better support for Hu Tao, granting her a huge 15 percent Pyro DMG Bonus. Bennett’s earlier constellations help as well, increasing his ATK buff.
5
Layla
Since Hu Tao can’t use healers, you need a shielder to play her comfortably. Unfortunately, not many shield characters can provide Hu Tao with things other than survivability. Instead, certain characters, such as Thoma
, might make it more difficult to hit the correct Elemental Reactions with Hu Tao.

Genshin Impact: Pro Tips For Playing As Hu Tao
Hu Tao is a powerful Pyro DPS that needs a decent team composition to shine – here’s what you need to know.
Layla
, at baseline, is one of the strongest shielders in the game. While she doesn’t grant much else from her kit, both her Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst can deal Cryo damage, letting Hu Tao occasionally Melt instead of Vape, dealing significantly more damage. If you have Layla’s C4, she also grants a decent DMG Bonus to Hu Tao’s Normal and Charged Attacks.
4
Xiangling
Xiangling
may go against Hu Tao’s Vape-hungry playstyle, but she can still be an absurdly strong teammate due to her high personal damage and her synergy with other Hu Tao teammates such as Kazuha, Sucrose, and Bennett.
Xiangling can still be used in a Vape team, but you’ll have to take out Bennett, so there can be two Hydro characters to let both Hu Tao and Xiangling Vape.
With Xiangling, you’ll be playing a Mono Pyro team, focusing on raw damage output instead of Elemental Reactions. You don’t have to worry about stuff like proper rotations, animation cancels, swirling the correct element, or even using Hu Tao’s Charged Attacks, so this team may feel the most comfortable to play. While Hu Tao’s personal DPS is a lot lower, Bennett and an Anemo can buff both Xiangling and Hu Tao, letting the duo not only keep up but also out-DPS the other team at times.
3
Zhongli
We’ve mentioned Hu Tao’s need for shielders, and there’s no character with a shield stronger than Zhongli. Such a strong shield lets you keep Hu Tao on low HP without worrying about dying. It also lets you save your stamina for her Charged Attacks, since you don’t need to dash to dodge enemy attacks.
If you’re confident you can dodge enemy hits without taking damage, other options are better from a DPS standpoint.
Zhongli also reduces all Elemental RES for enemies, giving Hu Tao another huge buff. Furthermore, you can slap a support artifact set on him such as Tenacity of the Millileth, Noblesse Oblige, or even Archaic Petra to make your Hu Tao deal even more damage.
2
Yelan
Hu Tao desperately needs off-field Hydro characters to Vape her attacks while her Elemental Skill’s up. While characters like Sangonomiya Kokomi
, Mona
, and many others can do this, having the application target who Hu Tao is currently hitting makes it a lot more consistent, reducing the chance of you missing a Vape. As such, Yelan
is one of the best supports for Hu Tao.

Genshin Impact is all about creating party synergy with abilities. These bow users offer great utility and some are even free!
Furthermore, Yelan is also one of the strongest off-field damage characters in Genshin, oftentimes rivaling the DPS of your on-fielder. She also provides an added DMG Bonus to Hu Tao while her Burst’s up and benefits herself from other Hu Tao supports such as Zhongli’s universal Elemental RES shred and Xingqiu’s Hydro shred.
1
Xingqiu
Xingqiu
is arguably one of the best characters in Genshin Impact for any team that needs a Hydro unit. His Hydro application is the fastest in the game, letting him apply enough of the element to keep up with his team’s needs even without a second Hydro unit. He also grants you interruption resistance and a huge DMG RES.
Xingqiu seems as if he was made for Hu Tao. The interruption resistance and DMG RES both help Hu Tao survive even without a shielder, and his Hydro is enough to keep up with Hu Tao’s Pyro. Additionally, he also increases Yelan’s DMG if she’s in the team by reducing enemy Hydro RES, while also letting you use the Hydro RES to further increase both Yelan and Hu Tao’s DPS.
