Factions in Brighter Shores represent playable classes that players can choose. While the game’s open-ended systems offer a commendable degree of freedom, classes allow players to specialize in a certain theme, granting them elemental powers based on the faction they select.
After reaching the Magic Cave in Episode 2, you’ll eventually have to pick between one of the three legendary classes in the game. What Faction Should You Pick in Brighter Shores?
Brighter Shores
is still early in development, and things may change as the game is updated.
Given the game’s combat system that uses Immunities and Vulnerabilities, players can expect rock-paper-scissor-style matchups against enemies based on the class they’re using. Since there’s no real way to work around this, regardless of what faction you join, so as of writing, your decision will mainly boil down to personal preference.
Each faction has its own theme, styles, and preferences. If you like how one faction looks, then feel free to join it. There’s not much else to consider when choosing which faction to join, so here’s an overview of each class to help you find which one is best for you.
Cryoknight
- Melee fighters who use swords, shields, and Cryonae magic. Strong against Arborae, but weak against Tempestae.
Cryoknights are warriors who can freeze and shatter enemies with melee weapons and ice magic. They’re closer to the typical fighter archetype commonly seen in other MMORPGs — they use ore to craft their metal equipment, and they’re often seen fighting on the frontlines.
Hammermage
- Specialists who wield both might and Tempestae magic. Strong against Cryonae, but weak against Arborae.
Hammermages use both martial prowess and elemental powers to defeat their enemies. This class is great for players who want a hybrid mage/fighter character, and if you’re a fan of lightning magic, then Hammermage is the class to pick. Most of their gear is crafted using rocks, so be prepared to do a lot of mining and gathering.
Guardian
- Ranged combat experts who protect allies and pierce enemies with Arborae damage. Strong against Tempestae, but weak against Cryonae.
Guardians are rangers who use the power of nature and wield equipment fashioned from bones. They have this druid-style aesthetic, which should be perfect for fans of this traditional RPG class.
Factions are supposed to have access to special attacks that are unique to them, but as of writing, they are not yet available.
Players still have a certain degree of freedom when it comes to what weapons they use in combat even after they pick their class, which means they aren’t necessarily limited to using only one type of weapon or dealing a single elemental damage type.
With that being said, your choice of faction mostly hinges on what element you want to specialize in and the gear you want to wear, and you’re better off focusing on improving your equipment and leveling up in Brighter Shores than fretting about your class choice.
