Hunting for beavers in Red Dead Redemption may seem like a waste of time, as they are pretty hard to find. Their monetary value is one of the highest in the game, but the difference can be made up by killing common animals, like cougars, coyotes, and wolves.
Even if you don’t wish to farm beavers for money, you will need to take up this expedition if you want to complete the Deadalus and Son Stranger mission in Red Dead Redemption. To wrap it up, you will need to collect five Beaver Furs, 10 Red Sage Plants, and 20 Feathers. Collecting the latter two is relatively easy, but getting the Beaver Furs is more tricky than you may think.
So, here’s a list of the best beaver hunting spots in Red Dead Redemption, so you can get the job done with minimal effort.

Where To Farm Beavers In Red Dead Redemption
Before you get started, it’s important to jot down a couple of important points. First, you can only find beavers in West Elizabeth, not too far from the river. Second, you should level up your Dead Eye in Red Dead Redemption, as almost all these beaver hunting spots are teeming with dangerous wildlife. So, playing it safe is key here.
Here are the best places to find beavers in RDR1:
- Aurora Basin: This area falls under Tall Trees, on the extreme left-hand side of West Elizabeth. It’s not a particularly good spot to hunt for beavers as it’s also a spawn point for grizzly bears. However, if you have the best weapons in the game and Dead Eye leveled up, it can be manageable.
- Beecher’s Hope: This area borders Tall Trees and Great Plains, and has an open space to run around. It’s a decent beaver hunting spot in Red Dead Redemption. What makes it an overall better spot than Tall Trees for hunting is that there’s always a pack of wolves around. Not only can you get the Deadalus and Son Stranger mission done, but you can also fill your purse. Since there’s ample space for running around, it won’t be difficult to take down the wolves.
- Great Plains: You can find a lot of beavers north of the Great Plains, bordering the river. A few spawn to the left as well, but you will get more kills if you follow the cliffs and head right. The cliffs to the north of Blackwater present a good spot as well, and you can easily farm it by saving game and resetting the day.
- Wreck of the Serendipity: This is also a good beaver hunting spot in RDR1. You will find a decent number of kills on top of the hill, which will allow you to make a lot of money in Red Dead Redemption. Further, the area also has a lot of dangerous but manageable wildlife, and its nearness to Thieves’ Landing makes it a good farming spot. However, Bandits will attack you in these parts, so getting the Bandito outfit can help things out.
Aside from these spots, you can also find beavers in Red Dead Redemption in Nekoti Rock, Tanner’s Span, Bearclaw Camp, and other areas near the river. However, Wreck of the Serendipity is the best place to farm pelts and money, with Great Plains coming in as the runner-up.
Ensure that you don’t use your most powerful gear when shooting beavers. Weapons like the Explosive Rifle can leave no corpse to farm, which destroys the purpose, and those like the Carcano Rifle have a scope that’s difficult to maneuver when under attack. It’s recommended to use something like the Semo-Automatic Pistol or the High Power Pistol to kill beavers in
Red Dead Redemption.
