Prime Video’s Fallout TV series adaptation debuted to great acclaim earlier in 2024, quickly providing a greenlight for another season. While it remains unclear when exactly Fallout Season 2 will move into production, the casting announcements are starting to roll in.
Fallout is Bethesda’s long-running post-apocalyptic role-playing video game franchise. The first Fallout released in 1997 and has become a major blockbuster franchise in the years since, selling over 55 million copies. As Hollywood looks for more IP to adapt into films and series, Fallout was an obvious choice thanks to its creative world and large fanbase. Amazon secured the rights to the series with Westworld’s Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy attached to produce. Instead of adapting one specific Fallout game, the Prime Video series tells its own unique story within the canon of the franchise, setting its plot in 2296 with a new set of characters each providing a perspective on Fallout’s vast world.

Fallout Season 2 Could Be Following One Annoying Blueprint
While there will definitely be a Season 2 of Amazon Prime’s Fallout series, the show appears to be following an annoying trend.
Fallout Season 2 Gains A New Cast Member
Fallout’s first season received praise for its performances, with Walton Goggins’ performance as the Ghoul earning him an Emmy nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series. It appears Fallout plans to beef its cast up even further in Season 2, with Deadline reporting that the latest actor to join the series is none other than Home Alone prodigy Macaulay Culkin. No official comments were given about Culkin’s new character, but he will allegedly play a crazy genius-type. Most recently Culkin has appeared in Season 10 of American Horror Story and The Righteous Gemstones, and provided voice roles in Entergalactic and The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy. In response to his casting in Fallout, Culkin took to Instagram to share the announcement, saying “Yep. It’s happening.”
Who is Macaulay Culkin Playing in Fallout?
There’s no shortage of “crazy, genius-type” characters in the Fallout world, with many of the world’s inhabitants driven mad by the impact of radiation or the apocalypse’s new world order. One exciting theory is that Culkin could be playing a character from New Vegas, a setting that was teased in the closing moments of Fallout Season 1. Fans are excited to return to the apocalyptic Las Vegas setting that was explored in 2010’s Fallout: New Vegas, particularly as the series could provide answers to some long-gestating questions about the game’s ending.
Culkin will join the already stacked Fallout cast which includes Goggins, Ella Purnell (Lucy), Aaron Moten (Maximus), Kyle MacLachlan (Hank) and Moises Arias (Norm). A filming start date for Fallout Season 2 is yet to be revealed. However, cast member Leslie Uggams (Betty) revealed to Screen Rant at New York Comic-Con that filming will apparently begin in November. However, Purnell had said a few weeks prior she hadn’t received scripts for Season 2 yet and did not know when it would start filming, but perhaps development on Fallout has advanced quickly in the past month.
Fallout Season 1 is now streaming on Prime Video. Season 2 is currently in development.
