Nintendo has launched a new limited-time crossover event in Super Mario Run that is celebrating the November 7 launch of Mario and Luigi: Brothership. Super Mario Run is a mobile endless runner game by Nintendo, first launched in 2016. Despite being overlooked as a mainline Super Mario game, it receives a number of updates, with some that are tied to newly released Nintendo Switch games.
Super Mario Run is no stranger to crossovers, as the endless runner has gotten various events that were promoting other games. Earlier this year, Super Mario Run got events that were based on various Mario spin-offs, including Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Princess Peach: Showtime, and even a Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD-themed crossover. The themed events gave players the chance to get various items and statues based on the characters from these titles, along with boosting the amount of medals players earned. With the release of Mario and Luigi: Brothership on the Nintendo Switch, players can participate in an event centered around the game that gives new content and themed rewards.

Just like the other celebrations, this new Super Mario Run event will run for a limited time, where clearing missions will get the player closer to getting three in-game statues. These statues are based on Mario and Luigi’s appearances in Brothership, along with new NPC characters Connie and Snoutlet. The statues are the pairings of Mario and Connie, Luigi and Snoutlet, and the Mario brothers together. This in-game event will be available until December 19, 2024.

Some of the special missions that will get players closer to earning these statues include Clearing World 1-1 without defeating any Goombas or collecting 1500 coins in World Tour. Some missions are for Super Mario Run courses that are unavailable without purchasing them, but if a player links their Nintendo account, certain courses can be unlocked and played without purchase. Certain mission-eligible courses like 2-1, 3-3, 4-2, and 5-1 will be unlocked for free during the event.
Mario and Luigi: Brothership is the first Mario and Luigi game developed following the closure of its original developer, AlphaDream, meaning it has a lot of anticipation and hype behind it. Both Nintendo and Acquire developed Mario and Luigi: Brothership, the latter studio having previously worked on games like Octopath Traveler and Tenchu. Reviews for Mario and Luigi: Brothership have been mostly positive, making it another smash RPG release in the Super Mario franchise, joining the likes of the Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remakes.
