Key Takeaways

  • Takaba is alive and seen with a mysterious person, likely Geto in Kenjaku’s body.
  • Kenjaku, a major antagonist in JJK, faced an embarrassing end.
  • Takaba used his Comedian technique to potentially bring back a unique identity combining Geto and Kenjaku.

Jujutsu Kaisen concluded after the defeat of Ryomen Sukuna at the hands of Yuji Itadori. Fans saw multiple loose ends being tied up in the last few chapters of the series, and at the same time, the author, Gege Akutami, confirmed the fate of multiple characters. Fans were absolutely delighted to see the vast majority of the characters get a good ending, hard as that might have been to believe a couple of years ago.

Sukuna has the potential to return in JJK if the series ever gets a sequel.

For the most part, JJK’s ending was quite rushed, and the vast majority of the characters did not get a satisfying ending, despite their conclusions being good. However, the author did as well as he could possibly do, especially while suffering from many illnesses. On top of that, some characters certainly did enjoy a proper end, and others raised quite an eyebrow. Among those left with an ambiguous end, Kenjaku certainly takes the top spot and even though fans saw him die in the Shinjuku Showdown arc, there is one character that looks exactly like him whose face was never revealed to the readers. This character could very well be Kenjaku or, potentially, even Geto.

Kenjaku’s Death In Jujutsu Kaisen Came In Shinjuku Showdown

  • Todo and Yuta Combined To Kill Kenjaku
  • Yuta Copied Kenjaku’s Technique

In the Shinjuku Showdown arc of JJK, Kenjaku was one of the biggest antagonists in the series, and the fans expected him to have a major battle in the series, or, at the very least, be just as important as Sukuna in the final arc. Unfortunately, the author did not have the time or the resources to give Kenjaku as much importance as he deserved, which eventually led to him being sidelined and getting eliminated in quite an embarrassing manner. In fact, Kenjaku’s end was such that the vast majority of the fans refused to believe it was even real, and a significant portion believed that he would return through some way later down the line.

My will shall be inherited!! – Kenjaku

Essentially, Kenjaku was taken out in a sneak attack by Yuta. For a major antagonist to go out that way it was truly embarrassing. Yuta, with the help of Todo, was able to sneak up on him, and slice his head right off. Immediately after, Yuta was able to stab his brain with cursed energy, essentially preventing him from utilizing cursed energy or even attempting to heal himself. He also managed to consume him through Rika and gain his cursed technique, which he later utilized in the battle against Sukuna in Shinjuku. While his end was disappointing, fans knew that his will would be carried on and that eventually came in the form of him passing the key to the merger to Sukuna. Unfortunately, this is yet another plot point that fans never got to see anything of, as the merger never truly happened, to begin with.

Clearly, Kenjaku met a disappointing end that no fan truly wanted to accept, but, at the same time, it was something that they had to deal with. That said, fans saw a glimpse of Kenjaku and they might have received something to latch on to, as the series concluded with the emergence of a character who looked just like him. Or, to be more specific, this character looked just like Suguru Geto.

How Gege Teased Kenjaku’s Return In Jujutsu Kaisen

A Character With Geto’s Body Is Alive and Well

In the last chapter of JJK, Takaba was revealed to be alive. A significant portion of the fans believed that Takaba had died, but just like many others who were seemingly dead in the war, Takaba returned. He was seen planning his next work with a mysterious individual whose face was not revealed. However, fans did not need to see the face of this individual to actually see who that person was. Unsurprisingly, that figure could only belong to one person, and that individual is none other than Suguru Geto. Through some way or means, Geto returned, but this could very well be Kenjaku in the body of Geto, or Kenjaku as Takaba knew him.

Gojo died early on in the Shinjuku Showdown arc of JJK. His ending was a huge let down to fans.

It was clear for the fans to see that even the personality of this individual matched with the Kenjaku that Takaba did his show with during their fight. Clearly, this was someone that Takaba was familiar with, and loved to play with. Takaba finally had his partner once again, and, while fans expected the face of this person to be revealed at some point in the chapter, or later down the line, they did not get even a single glimpse. The author carefully placed dialogue boxes over the face of this character, but the hairstyle and the build itself confirmed this person held the body of Suguru Geto, with the potential mind of Kenjaku.

As for the answer to who this person is, it might not be as complex as one would imagine. Clearly, this can only be either Kenjaku or Geto. But, fans did see Kenjaku die with their own eyes, which raises the question as to how he can even return in the first place.

Will Fans Ever Get To See Kenjaku Return?

Takaba’s Cursed Technique Makes Everything Possible

The answer to the question of who this person truly is, is right in front of the fans. Fans know that Takaba’s technique, Comedian, allows him to turn into reality anything that he thinks is funny. After the death of his partner, with whom he created a whole play, he most likely utilized his ability to bring this person whom he spent a lot of time with back to life. Of course, this essentially means that the body of this person belongs to none other than Geto, while the mind could be similar to that of Kenjaku. This doesn’t mean that Kenjaku is alive. While that certainly does remain to be a possibility, the likely answer here is that this person possesses a body similar to that of Geto, and a mind similar to that of the Kenjaku that Takaba knew, while being none of these people.

A technique that can rival even Gojo Satoru!! – Narrator

This person is likely a mixture of those two, with a completely unique identity. In a way, this could be the author’s way of reintroducing Suguru Geto into the plot, at the very least, in terms of appearance. Kenjaku always wanted a partner and he finally found one in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc. This partner is likely to stay with him for long, and, while there are chances of it actually being Kenjaku or Geto, it is highly unlikely that it is either of them. Fans will likely not find out the true identity of this person, and the author will most likely keep him with Takaba for the foreseeable future, taking part in various plays, among other things.

Comedian, Fumihiko Takaba ability

Of course, there could be further depth attached to it, and fans might later find out that Kenjaku is alive, which could also set up the basis for a sequel series. However, at this point, it is highly unlikely because Gege does not seem to have any plans to continue JJK. As things stand, Kenjaku is dead, and so is Geto. But, a person similar to Geto’s body and most likely Kenjaku’s mind exists all because of Takaba’s technique.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s last chapter, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
