Helldivers 2 Bots In Astro Bot Call In Hellpods On Each Other

PlayStation has had a great year, with Helldivers 2 and Astro Bot both definitely making it onto a lot of Game of the Year lists. While the two games can’t be more different from each other, they’ve finally crossed over with the release of Astro Bot’s latest speedrun level. On completing this level, you’ll be able to see a bunch of Bots dressed up like Helldivers on the hub planet.

A new level every week is the perfect way to keep me engaged with this platforming masterpiece

Usually when Helldivers land on a bot planet, they’re spraying bullets and calling in stratagems to decimate them. But it seems like these particular Bots are fine. But as with all the other Bots in Atro Bot, these adorable little Helldivers react in a characteristic manner when Astro gives them a little whack.

Calling In Reinforcements

As horrible as it sounds, one of the most fun things to do in Astro Bot is to go around punching all the Bots you’ve saved to see their reactions. The Bots will react in a manner of the character they’re themed after. Solid Snake will get into a box, Nathan Drake will fall off his couch while playing Crash Bandicoot, the Hunter from Bloodborne will parry with his musket, and so on.

If you try the same with the squad of Helldiver Bots, they’ll react with one of the game’s most hilarious features, friendly fire. No, they won’t shoot at each other – even better, they’ll call down a Hellpod on themselves. Friendly fire is pretty funny when it occurs in Helldivers 2, but it does not get more hilarious than when a Hellpod slams into you from orbit.

This little interaction brings together the best of both worlds, especially since both Astro Bot and Helldivers 2 are so beloved.

While they are beloved, fans have had plenty of reasons to grind their teeth at them too. Before the speedrun levels came to Astro Bot, players were struggling to complete one particular mission, Splashing Sprint. And, while it’s all sorted now, the Helldivers 2 playercount plummeted when Arrowhead nerfed a number of fan favourite weapons.
