Here are some of the best PvE and PvP rolls you can get for the Multimach SMG in Destiny 2.

Updated November 8, 2024 by Marc Santos: Festival of the Lost has remained more or less the same over the years, and so too have the main methods for getting Candy. While all the farming methods in this guide are still completely viable, we’ve added two additional sources of Candy that players might want to consider trying out. They aren’t quite as rewarding as the original methods listed, but they’re worth considering for those who want to maximize their gains while the event is live.

What Is Candy Used For?

Candy only has one purpose in Destiny 2:to buy Mystery Bags. There are two variations of Mystery Bags to choose from: the standard version and the Epic Mystery Bag. The standard Mystery Bag contains simple rewards such as Rare Armor, Weapons, and some Glimmer. On the other hand, the Epic Mystery Bag holds Legendary Armor and Weapons within, including some Legendary Shards.

While the rewards from the Mystery Bags aren’t anything to brag about, players will be required to purchase a few of them to complete a challenge for the Ghost Writer title. However, other challenges require players to earn a large amount of Candy, up to 30,000 total. With that in mind, it’s good for players to know some ways to farm it.

Candy is obtained by killing enemies or completing activities throughout the game while wearing a FOTL Mask in Destiny 2. For endgame players, Grandmaster Nightfalls is an excellent source of earning Candy. They not only guarantee 700 Candy per completion, but players can earn more as they defeat enemies throughout the Strike. In total, players can roughly make 800-900 Candy per run if they’re efficient at defeating waves of enemies.

The Festival of the Lost event in Destiny 2 lets players grind a few good weapon rolls. Here’s what to look out for when slaying Headless Ones.

Similarly, for solo players who are also efficient in defeating groups of enemies, there are two places they can go to farm candy quickly. The first is the Shuro-Chi encounter of the Last Wish raid. Players can use the Wish Wall to teleport to the encounter and begin fighting the Taken Thrall army that spawned throughout the fight. Afterward, they can wipe themselves and reset, repeating the process over and over again, collecting hundreds of Candies every 2-3 minutes.

The final spot to farm Candy would be the entrance to the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon. Like the Shuro-Chi encounter, waves of Thrall will continue to spawn at the opening of the Dungeon until players collect enough treasure to open the secret door. The recommendation would be to use weapons such as Witherhoard or Forbearance to clear all the Thrall out in one go. As players clear the enemies out, they can collect their Candy until they can’t collect anymore.

Free Weekly Candy

The tree during FotL in Destiny 2

The giant trees near Eva and Ikora at the Tower actually have some Candy pickups on them that players can get once a week per character. Each tree holds about 400 Candy each — if you have three characters, that’s a little over 1200 free Candy every week for as long as Festival of the Lost is active. While this method isn’t something that players can do multiple times in a session, it’s a great way to supplement your average Candy earnings while playing the game.

Overthrow Public Event

Players can get modest amounts of Candy by doing the Overthrow events in the Pale Heart. Every complete Overthrow should reward about 300 Candy — this definitely isn’t much, but it comes with the benefit of potentially rewarding players with Exotic Class Items. Additionally, as of Festival of the Lost 2024, players can now purchase Exotic Class Items from Eva Levante, provided they’ve finished the event’s quest.
