Corsair Offers More Affordable Storage with New MP700 Elite Series Next-Gen PCIe 5 SSDs

Corsair is well-known to PC users for their superior equipment and often very high-end gaming accessories, from customizable keyboards to cooling solutions. Now, Corsair has launched a more affordable series of PCIe 5.0 SSDs that brings the latest technology to the mainstream market. Available both with and without a heatsink, the new MP700 Elite series sacrifices some performance for better thermals, as well as to hit a more affordable price point. These are the standard M.2 2280 drives with a PCIe 5.0 x 4 interface, so if you have a compatible motherboard, you can enjoy the benefits of PCIe 5.0 technology.

Corsair MP700 Elite Series Specifications

The MP700 Elite series includes 1TB and 2TB capacity options, both of which are available with and without a heatsink. There is no difference in performance between the two, other than a slight difference in price. Speaking of performance, the MP700 Elite PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSDs are capable of reaching sequential read speeds of up to 10,000MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 8,500MB/s. They have a Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF) of 1,600,000 hours, and 3D TLC NAND flash.

The 1TB is rated at 600 TBW or Terabytes Written, which is a measure of endurance. The 2TB model is rated for 1200 TBW. They also feature Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T) and Trim functionality for consistent and strong performance.

The Corsair MP700 Elite with Heatsink comes with a matte black aluminum cooler that measures 80x23x18mm and should not cause any clearance issues even in small-form factor builds. The heatsink has a stylish design and will fit in with any black build, but will stand out when used with a white motherboard in an all-white PC build. Unfortunately, there is no white option here. Corsair has made sure the MP700 Elite series works with the Hydro X Series XM2 M.2 SSD Water Block, even though they don’t require that level of cooling.
