Vampire survival game V Rising unveils plans for a mega 1.1 update

Despite a huge amount of competition in the survival game genre, V Rising has had an incredibly strong showing since it came out of early access back in May. However, like a vampire’s thirst for blood, developer Stunlock Studios is hankering to bring new content and fresh features to the game. While you’ll have to wait until next year to actually get stuck into it, Stunlock has just unveiled its plans for V Rising version 1.1, and they’re pretty ambitious.

The first big thing to note about this huge update to one of 2024’s best survival games is that it will be expanding the world of Vardoran with a brand new region. While lips are sealed right now as to what this area is called and what it’s overall theme is, what we do know is that it is “just north of Silverlight.” It’ll also introduce a new faction and fresh enemies to V Rising, including a “deadly new gauntlet of V Bloods.”

When it comes to the two other major aspects of V Rising 1.1, Stunlock has provided plenty more information. The first is regarding a new crafting system that aims to give high level players the opportunity to create bespoke weapons by combining items that contain some of the desirable elements they’re chasing. While randomized loot has overall been well received, it can be frustrating for players looking to perfectly optimize their builds as they chase the ideal Jewel. However, with the Fusion Forge, you can make “the Jewel of your dreams.”

Instead of crossing your fingers for a drop to have the exact mods and attributes you want, you can look at your stash of loot, find two weapons that have some of those characteristics, and cherry pick the ones you want to create a totally new Jewel. You may want the modifier and damage reduction buff from one, and the movement speed and attack speed from the other.

Then there’s addition of what Stunlock is calling “risk-free” PvP. Right now, there’s a lot of risk involved in throwing down with other players in V Rising, and as a result, Stunlock is seeing very little participation – only one in every five players has died as a result of a PvP altercation, which suggests many players are too afraid or not interested in getting competitive right now.

As a result, it has two features in the works that’ll create safe spaces for PvP – Dueling and Arenas. Dueling is simply an overworld interaction that you can trigger with another player. Simply challenge them to a Duel, and any health you lose during the fight will be replenished to its previous level once the Duel is over. Arenas works on a similar concept, but instead focuses on battles that are hosted within a dedicated area inside your castle. Arenas fights aren’t just 1v1 either – several players can join in and be split into teams who compete against each other. Again, any health lost is replenished once the battle is finished.

All the content arriving in V Rising 1.1 will arrive throughout 2025. Stunlock promises even more new features and improvements will be arriving in version 1.1, but the new area, PvP options, and Fusion Forge are certainly the headline acts.
