UniVersus Reveals Limited Edition Godzilla Day Poster Collection

UniVersus Reveals Limited Edition Godzilla Day Poster Collection

Key Takeaways

  • UniVersus has revealed three limited edition posters to celebrate Godzilla Day.
  • The designs feature Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, and King Ghidorah.
  • Only 100 of each design is available, but similar designs are also available on playmats.

Godzilla Day is November 3 and this year it marked 70 years since the giant lizard first appeared on the big screen. If the iconic monster’s birthday came and went without you noticing, don’t panic, it’s not too late to celebrate. UniVersus has paid homage to Godzilla via some very special, very limited edition posters, and all three of them are still available.

UniVersus showed off its posters earlier this week, each of them featuring retro art from early periods in Godzilla’s run. Only one of them actually features Godzilla himself, though. The Godzilla Silkscreen poster features the kaiju emerging from clouds of smoke billowing around him, presumably from pesky humans trying and failing to bring him down.

Take a look at some of the alt-art cards you can find in UniVersus’ Attack On Titan: Origins Of Power.

Even though Godzilla isn’t technically featured on the other two posters, the focus of both is art inspired by the monster’s many movies, video games, and of course, collectible cards. The Mechagodzilla Silkscreen poster – my favorite of the three – is a lot more colorful than the prior poster. The only thing more terrifying than regular Godzilla is a mech version of the montser and the giant robot is also surrounded by smoke and is firing missiles out of its hands.

100 Of Each And Once They’re Gone, They’re Gone Forever

The final of the three posters features King Ghidorah, a monster hardened Godzilla fans will be very familiar with. Perhaps Godzilla’s most fearsome foe, Ghidorah made its cinematic debut ten years after Godzilla which means the two of them have been battling for 60 of the 70 years Godzilla has been around. Like the other two posters, the King Ghidorah option is still available at the UniVersus store, but that’s unlikely to be the case for long.

UniVersus celebrated Godzilla Day 2024 by releasing posters featuring retro art inspired by the kaiju and some of its supporting cast. There are Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, and King Ghidorah designs, but only 100 of each have been made.

When I said this trio of posters are limited edition, I meant it. Only 100 of each of them have been printed and once they’ve sold out, they’re gone for good. They cost $80 each and measure 24 inches by 36 inches. If you are seeing this too late, or you would like to belatedly celebrate Godzilla Day UniVersus-style without having to drop $80, all three of the designs have been tweaked and applied to playmats which are significantly cheaper at $24.99 each.

This year was the first Godzilla Day since the kaiju and other monsters from his world joined UniVersus. A deck built around Godzilla and Mothra was released during the summer alongside a rival deck with their enemies King Ghidorah and Rodan as its stars. Both of those decks are still available at UniVersus for $34.99 each.
