Stardew Valley’s long-awaited Update 1.6 launched earlier this week, and even though it’s adored by fans and plenty are getting stuck into the game all over again, it’s been a bit of a rough one. Various new glitches have already been found, one of which makes your entire chicken coop disappear, while another seems to tank the game’s performance if you put hats on your pets.
Those bugs are pretty detrimental to the whole Stardew Valley experience, but a new bug that was just discovered by Twitter user EdgarGomez might be something that fans want to try and replicate as soon as possible. In their post, they claim to have been checking their crab pots, and tried to take a lobster out of it while having a full inventory.
Stardew Valley Patch 1.6 Bug Is Making Players Rich Off Lobsters
After making room in their inventory, they picked up their hard-caught lobster only to find that it had mysteriously been duplicated in their pocket, and that they now had 999 of them. It’s funny to imagine a man struggling to carry just shy of 1,000 lobsters in his trousers, but it’s less funny when you see just how much money you can actually get from selling that many lobsters, as the total value of the lobster pile was 186,813 gold.
Understandably confused by the whole affair, EdgarGomez tagged Stardew Valley creator Eric ‘Concerned Ape’ Barone to see exactly what was going on, and the creator responded quite quickly, simply stating that he’s going to “look into it”. We can safely assume that mass lobster duplication wasn’t an intended feature in Patch 1.6, so it’s likely a hotfix might be included in the game’s next update, once Barone has found the problem.
That means if you want to get rich quick off of lobster in your new Stardew Valley save, you’ll have to do it sooner rather than later. In fact, EdgarGomez has made themselves a few enemies among the Stardew Valley community, with many in the replies to their tweet poking fun at them snitching to Barone himself. I guess you should make your lobster army now before it’s too late.
