Key Takeaways
- One Red Dead Redemption modder is working to rework the game as an FPS.
- Right now, it only works when aiming down the sights, but it’s a huge step forward just one week after launch.
Red Dead Redemption finally launched on PC last week, and already modders are sinking their teeth into the game and finding new ways to keep it fresh.
Take GLITCHEDMATRIX, who has made the game playable in first-person when aiming down the sights, turning RDR into an open-world, sorta FPS. Of course, since the game just launched on PC, it’s not perfect.
They’re pretty up front about the fact that this is a “work in progress”, so if you do decide to download it and give it a try to see Red Dead through a new perspective after 14 years, expect some hiccups.

This Bloodborne First Person Mod Brings The Horror Up Close
There’s a new way to play Bloodborne.
“Camera collisions had to be removed in order to see first person indoors better,” GLITCHEDMATRIX explains in the mod’s description. “The downside of that is getting to cloose to a target will show odd camera angles.”
Right now, there’s no way to tweak the FOV without using another mod, and you can’t switch between first and third-person yet, but early impressions from those who have downloaded it are fairly positive.
It’ll be interesting to see how mods like this expand over the coming months now that the game is readily available, but the ambition and excitement is already palpable.
