Despite Nintendo‘s continued assurance that it will reveal its next console before the end of the current fiscal year, the Switch has received a lot of attention throughout 2024 in the way of new games. However, some of those games have been slightly harder to come by for some of you as they’ve not been sold on Amazon. Whatever was going on between Nintendo and Amazon appears to have been smoothed over as The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom is now available on the site.
Whatever has been going on between Nintendo and Amazon can be traced back to the beginning of April 2024. The site began canceling pre-orders for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, two of Nintendo’s big upcoming exclusives at the time, without explaining to those who had placed the pre-orders why they were being canceled.

Amazon didn’t stop there either. Since then, not only have pre-orders for other new Switch games not been added to the site, but the games haven’t been available to buy even after they have been released, at least not directly from Nintendo. A few games have popped up through third-party sellers but even those listings have been few and far between. Gift cards to use in the Nintendo eShop were also removed from sale, leaving nothing but older Switch games and the consoles on which to play them available through Nintendo on Amazon.

Here’s Hoping Other Newer Switch Games Follow It
The return of new Switch games to Amazon has come about as mysteriously as their removal. Echoes Of Wisdom can now be bought through the US version of the site – Amazon in other countries appears to have been unaffected throughout this saga – and with it, normal service seems to have been resumed. That said, other Switch games released during the past seven months haven’t yet returned to Amazon, nor can you pre-order upcoming games like Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition or Donkey Kong Country Returns HD through the site.
Shortly after Amazon stopped selling Switch game pre-orders, Walmart followed suit. Walmart was, and presumably still is, in a slightly different boat as even though it hasn’t been selling Switch game pre-orders for the past six months, it has been selling Echoes Of Wisdom and other new Switch games in-store and on its site once they have been released.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom sees you play as the titular princess, searching for Link and saving Hyrule in the process. She uses the Tri Rod to created echoes, duplicates of everything from tables to enemies, to help her on her journey.
