Free MMORPG Throne and Liberty nears a million max-level players in first month

We’re one month on from the launch of new MMORPG Throne and Liberty on Steam. The latest MMO to be brought to the platform from Lost Ark and New World Aeternum publisher Amazon Games has found itself a solid player base so far, consistently sticking among the most-played games on the Valve platform. As Throne and Liberty update 1.6 lands, Amazon reveals some of the key stats from our first month in Solisium, and the game has already racked up an impressive head count of max-level players.

With FF14 Dawntrail and WoW The War Within now comfortably settled into post-launch updates, Throne and Liberty has found itself a nice spot to shine, giving players a free Steam game to jump into and get their MMO fix. With a concurrent player count consistently peaking above 130,000 daily, it’s clearly proven pretty popular. Time will tell whether it has the legs to stand against the best MMORPGs, but the stats show that people are certainly giving it a chance.

Getting people to play a game with no entry fee isn’t too tough – getting them to stick with it is. So, Amazon’s confirmation that Throne and Liberty’s first month saw a total of 937,241 players reach the level 50 cap, while more than 103.5 million hours played in total, is impressive. With a big part of Throne and Liberty’s appeal being in its large-scale, faction-driven PvP encounters, a strong and consistent player base will be essential to its continued success.

Speaking of said PvP, the confirmation of the First Defenders across all Throne and Liberty servers means it’s time to get into the most important business – taxes. The reigning guild on each server can now schedule a tax delivery at any point between 2pm and 1am local server time. One player will be selected to become the Tax Delivery Golem (sometimes I’m thankful we don’t live in a fantasy realm), and the rest of the guild must defend it as it fulfills its duties.

Successfully protecting the Golem and its cargo earns the guild a bounty of Lucent and Sollant, but other players can see when the delivery is due and attempt to interfere; if they succeed, the attacking parties share the rewards instead.

Throne and Liberty player stats from the first month, including 103,501,519 total hours played and 937,241 total level-50 players.

If you’re unhappy with the incumbent rulers of your server and fancy taking charge for yourself, you’ll have to wait a little longer. The first Throne and Liberty Castle Siege event begins on November 17, and will see other guilds attempting to storm Stoneguard Castle in an attempt to claim it as their own. Work with your fellow warriors to form an alliance, or betray them to take the power for yourself.

These battles promise to be some of the most exciting events in the whole game, as we discussed during our Throne and Liberty PvP interview with globalization design manager Daniel Lafuente prior to launch. It’ll be interesting to watch how their arrival affects the active player count, but so far things look bright.

If you’re gearing up to claim your share of that tax bounty, you’ll need one of the best Throne and Liberty builds. For some extra goodies, check the latest active Throne and Liberty coupons and codes.
