Key Takeaways
- Final Fantasy 14 halts some house demolitions due to floods in Spain.
- The pause impacts European Chaos and Light Data Centers.
- North American Aether, Crystal, Dynamis, and Primal Data Centers were previously affected due to Hurricane Helene.
Following severe floods in Spain, Final Fantasy 14 paused the automatic housing demolition timers on its European Data Centers. This pause is the second to be proclaimed within a calendar month, as all Final Fantasy 14 homes across the European and North American Data Centers are locked down at the time of writing.
The moratorium on automatic housing demolitions came days before the November 12 release of Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.1. The Crossroads update will continue the story of Dawntrail and bring fans of Final Fantasy 11 a dose of nostalgia via the first part of the Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raid series. Along with Job balance updates in PVE and PVP content, Patch 7.1 will introduce two high-end Trials for level 100 players; The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden (Extreme) and The Jade Stoa (Unreal). In subsequent smaller updates, the Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) and Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) raids will test Final Fantasy 14 players to their full potential.

Although Patch 7.1 will bring more content for Final Fantasy 14 fans to enjoy, Square Enix also gave certain players a reprieve following real-world events. According to the Lodestone, all Final Fantasy 14 housing plots in the Chaos and Light Data Centers, located in Europe, are subject to a temporary pause of the automatic demolition timers effective Thursday, November 7, at 3:33 AM Eastern. Square Enix did not state when the timers would resume but confirmed that the action was in response to the flooding that affected parts of eastern Spain. The torrential downpours occurred between October 29 and November 3 and became one of the deadliest natural disasters in Spanish history. The pause came a year after a similar one was enforced for several weeks following earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
Final Fantasy 14 Temporarily Pausing Automatic Housing Demolition in Europe
- Some Final Fantasy 14 homeowners will temporarily not be subject to automatic housing demolitions.
- Square Enix said that the Chaos and Light Data Centers are affected by this pause.
- The European moratorium joins an ongoing one on the Aether, Primal, Crystal, and Dynamis Data Centers.
- Square Enix will announce when automatic demolitions will resume in a future follow-up.
The pause on the European housing demolition timers is not the only current one in Final Fantasy 14. In early October, the Aether, Crystal, Dynamis, and Primal Data Centers for Final Fantasy 14 in North America had their timers paused following the damage done by Hurricane Helene throughout the eastern US. While the pause remains in effect, Final Fantasy 14 property owners who play in any affected Data Centers can reset the automatic demolition timer to 45 days by entering any housing plots they own.
Square Enix stated it will monitor both situations and share when the automatic demolition timers will resume across all Final Fantasy 14 Data Centers in Europe and North America. Between the housing situation and the Crossroads content update, Final Fantasy 14 players will have plenty of news to track in the weeks ahead.
