- The Join Bug fusion method may bring back popular fusions like Vegito or Gogeta, offering new storylines and excitement for fans of the series.
Dragon Ball Daima is off to quite an interesting start as fans of the franchise largely seem to have taken to this new series, which is the last Dragon Ball property that the legendary Akira Toriyama worked on before his untimely passing. Although the story is set way before the current events of Super, there are many new additions to the franchise that have greatly increased the overall world building and lore.
Chief among these additions is the Demon Realm itself, which is finally being shown despite the first mentions of it being in the earliest parts of the series. This place is interesting for a lot of reasons due to the mysterious setting of this peculiar realm, containing many things that fans had never seen or heard of before. Episode 4 introduces a new method of fusion, which opens up many possibilities for this amazing aspect of Dragon Ball.

As Goku, Shin, and Glorio continued to traverse the land to get to their destination, they realized that flying was not a viable option without their plane due to the dense and heavy air of the Demon Realm. This would lead to them getting very tired quite quickly, and in a place as treacherous as the Third Demon World, they need all their stamina. So, they proceed to go on foot.
Eventually, they stumble upon an inn to stop for rest and food. Here, Goku is drawn to a shelf that contains many glittery little objects that are later revealed to be various dried bugs native to the Demon Realm, ranging from red ones that restore health to others that give headaches to those who eat them. Most curiously, however, there were some emerald green ones called ‘Join Bugs’ that could be split apart and eaten by two people. Once each person eats one half of the Join Bug, they will fuse for a time into a single, powerful warrior.

The multiverse was one of the best additions in all of Super but has seen very little attention. Here’s why this is bad for the franchise.
The Nature Of Join Bug Fusion
How Will This New Fusion Work?
At the current moment, nothing is known about the Join Bug fusion other than the fact that it is just another method of briefly fusing two characters into a single warrior who eclipses both constituents in strength. The biggest question on everyone’s mind is the resulting fusion that will come from this if Goku and Vegeta use it, since they’re the most likely candidates to fuse at all.
With the Potara Earrings, the resulting fusion is Vegito, who takes on more of Vegeta’s cocky and arrogant personality, whereas with the Metamoran Fusion Dance, Gogeta is formed and takes the kinder and tactful personality of Goku. This seems to balance out pretty well, with each fusion being more inclined to either warrior, though their power is equal. However, with a new method of fusion, they may form an entirely new character who is either completely separate from Gogeta or Vegito or is more of a mix of Goku and Vegeta than the others.
Our two strengths aren’t just added together, they’re significantly magnified!
Conversely, another way these Join Bugs could facilitate Goku and Vegeta’s fusion is that they work almost identically to Potara Earrings but are more reliable in the sense that they have a fixed timer, since they seem to be the Demon Realm’s equivalent. If this is the case, fans can expect to see Vegito again but without the drawbacks of the Earrings that he has had from before, definitively making them the best method of fusion in Dragon Ball.
However, this is all under the presumption that it would even be Goku and Vegeta who are fusing. It’s pretty much confirmed that Vegeta, Piccolo, and Bulma will eventually make their way into the Demon Realm in the future, but the fusion that takes place through the Join Bugs could even be of Shin and Glorio, considering that they are both originally residents of the Demon Realm and seem to share some features to one another.
Whatever the case may be, the possibilities for the future of the series, and particularly fusion, have increased by an incredible margin. The chances of seeing fan favorite characters who rarely make an appearance in the franchise, like Vegito and Gogeta, really excites fans of the series, or even if the fusion introduces someone entirely new from the merger of any characters, it is still something that has greatly captured everyone’s attention.
