Set your alarms, Dota 2 players! The much-awaited it looks like the much awaited Crownfall Act 4 is finally releasing. While we wait for at most, the next 24 hours for Crownfall Act 4 to release, here are what we know thus far from Valve’s latest blog post.

The Ascension Night
The blog post, titled Ascension Night, not only teases the upcoming Crownfall Act 4 event, but a backstory to Kez, our upcoming Dota 2 hero. As the title suggests, it showcases young Kez’s first attempt in pursuing rebellion against Queen Imperia, aka the big, bad boss in Act 4.
The comic’s story line revolves around Kez’s attempt at breaking his flightless pals out of prison. The story line is an interesting read overall, especially with a hint of Valve’s easter eggs and humor imbued in it.
Valve Time
We all know Valve hasn’t been good at keeping deadlines in check. We waited a year for Ringmaster to release. When Valve states that an update releases on a particular month, it’s normally at end of that month.
Hence, when a part of the Ascension Night comic made fun of how Kez thinks that it has only been a month’s wait when it has been half a year, it was hilarious. Kez even called it an early release to really put a Nail on the coffin about their release date joke. Coincidentally, it has been six months since the first Act released in April this year.

Another Easter Egg in the Ascension Night comics is a duty log of only five names. In 2023, TI champion and Team Spirit carry Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk said that while visiting Valve headquarters you could count the employees working on the game “on one hand.” While it’s a stretch to say this foreshadows there are only five Valve employees working and maintaining their Dota 2 game, it’s still fun to speculate. Especially since we have had longer release dates and more rampant Dota 2 bugs, such as the recent Mirana Euls Server-crash bug.
Additionally, we got a glimpse of what Kez’s abilities would be, as the end of the comic shows Kez getting blitzed by an old master, whom he will be trained by.
Nevertheless, the wait and speculations are finally over, as Crownfall Act 4 releases by tomorrow, just in time for weekend Dota 2 action. Additionally, there could be more to expect from Crownfall Act 4 than just Kez and the boss fight event.
