Baldur's Gate 3 Fan Gets Bored, Climbs Up 76 Crates In Act 3

Key Takeaways

  • One Baldur’s Gate 3 player stacked 76 crates on top of each other in Act 3.
  • From the very top, they could see the entirety of the Lower City, and even the blue void beyond the walls.
  • They didn’t seem to run into a height limit, just a janky camera, so it’s possible you could take this even further.

One Baldur’s Gate 3 player, bored while waiting for their friends, stacked 76 crates on top of each other at camp and climbed all the way up to see what’s lying just out of view. Turns out, you can see the entire Lower City in all of its low-poly glory.

Seeing the crowded homes and shops shuffled together, stretching out in all directions until they’re snug against the giant, towering city walls, really puts into perspective just how big Act 3 is. You can even make out the Sorcerous Sundries building with its ornate rooftop right in the centre.

Being able to climb that high up is interesting in itself (surpassing even Matt Mercer’s box ladder), but seeing where our camp is in relation to the Lower City is an especially fun little discovery. We knew we were somewhere on the docks, but with this handy, slightly cursed aerial view, we can pinpoint exactly where our camp lies.

There Doesn’t Appear To Be A Height Limit

Interestingly, the Reddit user who climbed Mount Boxerest says that it “doesn’t seem like” there’s a height limit. “A few times the camera started to get locked in place, but if you wiggle it resets,” they explained.

Given that they’re reaching the heights of the walls surrounding the Lower City, it’d be interesting to see just how cursed it can get with a few more boxes. You can already see the blue void beyond the map’s limits from 76 crates.

If you really want to try and beat their record, you don’t need any mods or third-party tools, “just patience”. Fill your inventory with crates, place ’em one by one, and climb all the way up. It’s simple, but no doubt time consuming.
