Yanagi Build Guide – ZZZ

Yanagi Build Guide - ZZZ

Yanagi, introduced in Zenless Zone Zero’s storyline well before becoming a playable character, is also one of the first playable members of Section 6, alongside Soukaku. As an Electro Anomaly character, some players might initially liken her to Grace due to their shared element and role; however, Yanagi is designed as a dedicated on-field DPS with some unique qualities. Her kit encourages synergy with multiple elements due to it’s disorder focus, and her stance-switching ability allows her to gain two distinct bonuses, making it easy for players to adapt her playstyle in various situations while upkeeping both buffs – which are PEN and Electro DMG Bonus.

Burnice is a Fire-Anomaly Sub-DPS in Zenless Zone Zero whose playstyle involves a quick-swap EX Special Attack spam.

Yanagi’s dual Disorder mechanics are particularly noteworthy. With Lunar Eclipse Disorder, she can deal increased damage with each Disorder effect applied, while her Polarity Disorder allows her to apply a mini Disorder without clearing an Anomaly, making her an asset in Disorder-focused teams. Yet, she remains flexible enough to fit well in teams that don’t revolve around Disorder mechanics specifically. Her versatility extends to her build options, allowing players some leeway, though here’s a look at her optimal setup and W-Engines for maximizing her potential in Zenless Zone Zero.

Yanagi Build In ZZZ - W-Engines

Yanagi’s optimal W-Engine setup is similar to that of most Anomaly characters, except for the unique options available to Burnice, whose playstyle deviates significantly. Yanagi’s signature W-Engine, Timeweaver, stands as her best option due to its focus on Electric Anomaly build-up, substantial boosts to Anomaly Proficiency, and a unique effect that increases her Disorder DMG when her Proficiency reaches 375 or higher. This makes it essential to prioritize Anomaly Proficiency in her build; fortunately, certain Drive Disc set bonuses and main stats can make achieving this easier.

Other W-Engines aren’t as tailored to Yanagi’s abilities, especially with Burnice’s and Jane Doe’s signatures being too niche for her needs. Still, Fusion Compiler serves as a strong 5-star alternative, offering boosts to Anomaly Proficiency, PEN, and ATK%, all valuable for Yanagi. While accessible through the Fading Signal Shop, it’s recommended not to purchase it specifically for her. The Electro-Lip Gloss from the Battle Pass is also quite effective in a generalist build, providing Anomaly Proficiency boosts along with increased ATK and enhanced enemy damage taken if afflicted by an attribute anomaly, though it’s not a F2P-friendly choice.

For F2P alternatives, Weeping Gemini and Rainforest Gourmet are solid options. Weeping Gemini, in particular, stands out by offering a higher Anomaly Proficiency boost, making it a more desirable choice for Yanagi over Rainforest Gourmet, which still remains viable. Both options provide Anomaly Proficiency and ATK, meeting Yanagi’s core stat needs effectively.

Yanagi Build In ZZZ - Discs

When selecting Drive Discs for Yanagi, players have flexible choices, similar to Burnice’s setup but without attribute-specific requirements. For a versatile, adaptable build that works across many team compositions, Chaos Jazz is an excellent option. Its 2-piece bonus raises Anomaly Proficiency, which complements Yanagi’s playstyle, while the 4-piece bonus grants a 15% boost to Electric DMG, ideal for Yanagi. Although the rest of the 4-piece effect is designed for off-field characters, Yanagi can still benefit from the short-term DMG boost for about 5 seconds.

For optimal power, Thunder Metal is Yanagi’s strongest choice, but its conditions can be tricky in certain Disorder teams. It’s best suited to mono-Electric teams or well-planned rotations in Disorder-focused teams, as excessive Shocking can diminish the Disorder DMG while Disorder can remove Shock anomaly and disrupt the 4-piece bonus. For a safer, slightly less potent choice, Freedom Blues provides solid benefits, though its Anomaly Buildup RES isn’t that ideal for some setups, like teams paired with Burnice.

As for the remaining 2-piece sets, it essentially depends on which 4-piece set players equipped on Yanagi. Players can enhance Yanagi’s Anomaly Proficiency further with Freedom Blues or Chaos Jazz as complementary pieces. Thunder Metal also works for added synergy, and Swing Jazz is an option for those wanting a boost to Energy Regen.

In terms of main stats, Yanagi’s core setup mirrors that of other Anomaly characters: Anomaly Proficiency in the 4th slot and Anomaly Mastery in the 6th slot. The 5th slot offers some flexibility, with Electric DMG Bonus as her top choice, though PEN or ATK can also work well. For sub-stats, prioritize Anomaly Proficiency over PEN and ATK. As with other Anomaly characters, Crit stats aren’t necessary for Yanagi, so there’s no need to prioritize them.

Don’t go into the Hollows.
I know, I know, there’s Ether in the Hollows, bizarre creations, even heritage of the old civilization, all precious treasures. But don’t forget, there’s also spatial disorder, monsters and mutants running rampant, and ultimately, a disaster that could swallow the world. They are not a place where ordinary people should go.
So don’t go into Hollows.
Or at least, don’t go in alone.
If you insist on getting into danger, go to New Eridu first.
This city where the good and the bad mix has many people who need the Hollows: Powerful wealthy tycoons, gangs that stalk the streets, conspiracy nuts, and ruthless officials.
Make your preparations there, find strong allies, and most importantly—
Find a “Proxy”.
Only they can guide people out of the maze-like Hollows.
Good luck!
