Divinity: Original Sin 2 looks to be getting a current-gen upgrade. As spotted by Gematsu, it was rated for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S by PEGI earlier today.

We don’t have much else to go off of right now, as it’s simply an update to the existing, six year old page. But at the very least, it tells us that Larian Studios is giving the game a new lick of paint.

If You Like Baldur’s Gate 3, Play Divinity: Original Sin 2

For the Baldur’s Gate 3 fans out there who have been itching for a similar experience after their umpteenth replay, there’s no better choice than Divinity: Original Sin 2. I wrote as much last year, and I stand by it today.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is far closer to Larian Studios’ more recent games than it is the ’90s BioWare classics it follows on from. Like Larian’s newest game, Divinity places the focus first and foremost on its cast of incredibly personable companions. There’s also very similar turn-based combat that emphasises a keen awareness of your environment, and… drum roll please, barrelmancy. Oh and strange oxes, I guess.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Should Have Used Origins’ Best Storytelling Device

BioWare missed a trick with Rook’s factions in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

The big difference is that character interactions are far more detached — the top-down camera stays on during chit-chat. But that doesn’t take away from the stellar writing that’s every big at captivating as Baldur’s Gate 3, with skeletal companions like Fane, a Lone Wolf merc in Ifan Ben-Mezd, the dwarven nobile Beast, elven assassin Sebille Kaleran (Shadowheart freaks, pay attention), and the iconic Red Prince, an exiled lizard monarch.

You can pick up Divinity: Original Sin 2 right now on Xbox One and PS4, but a current-gen upgrade couldn’t arrive at a better time, hot off the tails of Baldur’s Gate 3 fever.
