Two of the big Nintendo Switch exclusive games confirmed for 2025 have solid release dates. Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is releasing on January 16, while Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is launching on March 20. Pokemon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are also coming to the Switch in 2025, but neither have specific release dates announced just yet. It’s believed that both games will be released in the latter half of the year, however.

Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games List

There are still heavy hitters on the way for the Switch, but many Nintendo fans are going to be more concerned about what’s in store for its successor console. Nintendo still has yet to properly unveil the Nintendo Switch 2, and at this point, it’s looking like the reveal won’t happen until next year. Whenever the new console is shown to the public, it will be interesting to see what games it brings to the table.

The Switch 2 will presumably be a significant power upgrade over the original Switch, which should open the door for more visually impressive gaming experiences with better performance. Some games have announced their intent to release on the Switch 2, but with the console itself not announced yet, there isn’t really anything officially confirmed. What we do know is that the Switch 2 will be backward compatible with the original console’s library, which is great news for those that have built up a large collection of Switch titles these last seven years.

Nintendo gamers can expect plenty more Switch 2 game announcements in 2025, with the console itself set to be revealed before April of next year. But as the list of upcoming Switch games shows, there’s still plenty on the way for the original console.
