Yes, there are previous entries in the Dragon Age series. However, some gamers don’t want to play games that look dated. I just finished a play-through of Half-Life, and I think it was an amazing game for its time, but many people out there would take a look at it and say, “Nope.” Putting you-get gamers aside, it is not possible to play every good game that gets released, and tastes change. It’s possible that people who slept on Dragon Age in the past because they didn’t like or understand RPGs might be willing to give it a chance now.
I see you mentioned that EA won’t fire people if Dragon Age fails. I don’t know what world you belong to, but just this year alone, people are being laid off across all industries. It is not only Microsoft, and I am not sure why you brought up Microsoft when Sony just closed 2 studios last week and laid off the staff for underperforming games despite receiving good reviews from major reviewers.
If the fans aren’t owed a game to their liking then the dev isn’t owed success.”
No one is owed success, but fans should not go out of their way day in and day out trying to sabotage the game in every way possible. If it is truly a bad game, it will fail on its own without people trying to forcibly move the needle with a flood of negative articles, videos, and fake reviews.
If you say there are people blindly praising Dragon Age, I would like to know where they are? Because it is either 5 people in total or the negative user reviews on Metacritic say otherwise. In addition to that, the only positive sentiment this game seems to be receiving is from those who actually played the game, as we can see from the verified reviews on Steam.
