Upgrading your tools in Mirthwood allows you to harvest more materials from stronger rocks and allows you to deal more damage. You won’t get anywhere by playing the whole game with Copper items. The best tools you can get are Gold tools. You will need to earn a lot of money in order to even think about crafting tool upgrades, though. Below you will find each tool kit available in the game and how to acquire everything you need.
The first thing you want to do is locate a blacksmith. There is a blacksmith in south Brightoak, where the houses begin to look brown. Here, you will find the blacksmith sells tool kit upgrades. The prices are very high and not so accessible at the start of the game.
Upgrading your tools increases the efficiency of that item per upgrade.
- Upgrading your watering pot allows you to water a larger radius.
- Upgrading your Scythe increases the amount of Hay you get and the radius of the swing.
- Upgrading your Hoe increases the speed of your tilling.
It’s important to upgrade your tools sooner rather than later because farming and gathering resources can become tedious. Being able to harvest materials faster thanks to better tools, will allow you to focus on other things like quests.
To upgrade your tools from Copper to the next best thing, Iron, you will need at least 750 coins and an anvil. You can only upgrade tools at an anvil. One can be crafted at your workbench for 15 Stone and 2 Iron Bars.
Ores can be found in different regions. Iron rock deposits are found in Murkwater Marsh. Put ore in a Furnace to smelt them into bars.

Each tool will need a corresponding tool kit, 10 bars of the corresponding material such as Iron, and your previous tool. Better axes and pickaxes will allow you to harvest more of a resource and unlock the ability to collect higher-grade materials.

Where To Find Ore
Ore deposits look just like rocks you smash for stone; Copper rocks will be brown and have green cracks, and Iron rocks will look the most similar to stone, grey with silver cracks. Different ore deposits reside within different regions of the world.
