The Fortnite Battle Pass Stars system has always been criticized for being overly complicated. As a result, you will find many players on the internet favoring a straightforward system linked to the game’s XP. Well, Epic Games has finally heard those voices as they’re saying goodbye to Battle Pass stars and other currencies with the release of the Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix update. So, if you’re wondering how to unlock the rewards in the upcoming battle pass, you’ve come to the right place.
How to get Battle Pass rewards in Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix?
Simply put, the new progression system will allow you to unlock the Battle Pass, Music Pass, and LEGO Pass simply by earning XP in Fortnite. As a result, all passes in Fortnite will progress simultaneously by earning XP from playing any experience.
As you progress through pass tiers with XP, you’ll be able to claim rewards on the unlocked pages of each active pass you have. Rewards may be claimed in non-sequential order on all passes, in the same way that you can with the Battle Pass now. You’ll also be able to set each pass to auto-claim the next reward when it becomes available to you.
However, it’s worth noting that this system won’t be applied to all the passes at once as Epic has a different timeline for each:
- Festival Points for the Fortnite Festival Mode will be retired when the Music Pass goes live on November 2.
- Battle Stars will be retired on December 1.
- Studs will be retired on December 1, at which point the Brick or Treat LEGO Pass will begin to progress from XP gained in any Fortnite experience.
Finally, instead of buying levels to unlock rewards, you’ll now be able to directly purchase pass rewards (up to the allowed limit) without progressing to them on any active pass you have purchased.

Why is Epic Games removing Battle Pass stars?
Just like the game fans, Fortnite also wanted to simplify things for all the battle passes available in the game which is why they’ve decided to retire all forms of battle pass currencies such as Festival Points, Stars and Studs in November 2024.
