Every new Booster added to Helldivers 2 has some tough competition to live up to. With the Hellpod Space Optimization, Vitality Enhancement, and Stamina Enhancement Boosters often considered must-haves in most mission types on higher difficulties, this leaves little room for experimentation. That means any new Booster that gets added to Helldivers 2 has to provide a significant buff for players to consider replacing any of the current meta Boosters. Unfortunately, the new Dead Sprint Booster falls short of its competition.
Since Helldivers 2’s new Dead Sprint Booster provides a similar effect as the existing mobility Boosters, except with a negative side effect that drains players’ health, Dead Sprint arguably isn’t worth using over any of the existing Boosters at the end of the day. So, unless players are willing to sacrifice parts of their loadout to make the Dead Sprint Booster viable, there are plenty of existing Boosters that are far more practical since they have no negative side effects, while also requiring little to no additional investment to use.

Helldivers 2’s Dead Sprint Booster Was a Missed Opportunity
One of the biggest downsides of the Dead Sprint Booster is that it doesn’t take into account the weight class of the player’s body armor. Outside the buffs provided by the different body armor perks in Helldivers 2, a body armor’s weight class generally determines the player’s damage resistance, maximum stamina, stamina recovery rate, and overall movement speed.
While the Dead Sprint Booster might seem great for players who use heavy armor sets in Helldivers 2, instead, this Booster provides the best benefits to players who wear light armor. This is mainly because the rate at which the Dead Sprint Booster drains the players’ health isn’t affected by the players’ damage reduction from their body armor weight class. Consequently, the superior default movement speed allows players to cover longer distances with the Dead Sprint Booster than players wearing heavy armor or medium armor.
Dead Sprint will automatically stop before consuming the player’s full health.
In hindsight, this missed opportunity to provide a specific advantage to heavy armor is arguably a dealbreaker for the Dead Sprint Booster. So, considering that it doesn’t provide any unique effect beyond what some of the existing mobility Boosters already provide, while meanwhile having a negative side effect that drains players’ health when they use it, the Dead Sprint Booster is arguably only worth utilizing if players invest in buildcrafting tools to mitigate its negative side effects.
Many players on the

have been debating whether Dead Sprint Booster could have been more favorable as a body armor perk in
Helldivers 2
, instead of being a team-wide Booster.
Helldivers 2’s New Dead Sprint Booster Requires Big Investment for Minimal Rewards
The best use case for the Dead Sprint Booster is arguably for speedrunning open-world missions for quick rewards and hunting down Super Credits and Samples from mission POIs. However, for players who are dedicated to making this Booster in Helldivers 2 a core part of their loadout, there are multiple ways to mitigate this Booster’s negative side effects for both solo players and co-op groups if players are willing to dedicate parts of their loadout to do this:
- Vitality Booster
- Experimental Infusion Booster
- P-11 Stim Pistol
- Body armor with the Med-Kit perk
So far, the consensus in the community seems to be that Helldivers 2’s new Dead Sprint Booster pairs well with other mobility and health Boosters, but on its own it can be too risky to take full advantage of, especially when playing on higher difficulties. Since there’s no way to passively regenerate health, the new Dead Sprint Booster generally requires additional investment to properly use because of its negative side effect, which makes it far less convenient than the current meta in Helldivers 2 when it comes to Boosters.
