Marvel fans have been treated well recently with the release of Disney’s Agatha All Along, as the Marvel Cinematic Universe flirts with the darker aspects of its most bewitching stories. Even though Wanda Maximoff may not feature in Agatha All Along, the show’s costume designer, Daniel Selon, has delighted fans by finding a way to include her into the show via Billy’s Wiccan outfit. Created by Jac Schaeffer for Disney+, the WandaVision spin-off sees the return of Agatha Harkness, who had been confined by a powerful spell for three years but then, thanks to the help of a teen goth (Billy), manages to escape the town with a coven of witches to embark on the legendary Witches’ Road, while also crossing paths with some old adversaries.

Agatha All Along proved to be a popular show for Disney, bringing in over 9 million viewers during its premiere week, even though it was the lowest-budget Marvel TV show that has launched since 2020. Since then, at least to episode seven anyway, Agatha All Along has steadily grown and drew 4.2 million views globally after just one day of streaming, which is 35% from the premiere episode’s performance. As the show has now come to its conclusion with a double-episode finale and wrapped up season one, many fans are still hooked on Billy’s transformation, especially his incredible Wiccan costume.

Agatha All Along Costume Designer Reveals Nod to Wanda in Billy’s Wiccan Outfit

Wiccan in Agatha All Along

In a post on Instagram, Agatha All Along‘s talented costume designer, Daniel Selon, explains how they managed to cultivate subtle nods to WandaVision‘s Wanda Maximoff into Billy’s, played by Joe Locke, Wiccan’s suit. Sharing a series of images, Selon said that the material on the Wiccan outfit is the same as Scarlet Witch’s costume from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Laser-cut rune designs also embellished the suit, which is a throw back to WandaVision‘s epic battle, as well as Billy’s sweater including Wanda’s crown, the Mind Stone symbols and, pentacle all carefully embodied into the material. Selon also mentioned that the Wiccan’s cape includes a homage to Vision as well, with the robot’s graphic pattern printed on the underside.

It’s clear to see that the show’s costume designs were paramount throughout the series, not only for Billy’s comicbook approved Wiccan outfit, and were thought about in great detail. This can be seen in Agatha All Along‘s the Salem Seven, who wear stunning hooded black dresses and cloaks, giving the illusion of the various animals they can shapeshift into, and also how, after each trial, the witches’ costumes would evolve dramically.

Filled with shocking twists and turns, Agatha All Along season one may have concluded but, as yet, season two doesn’t seem to be on the cards for Marvel. That’s certainly not to say that the story is done and dusted, as it looks as though a trilogy spin-off is in the works that will combine the narratives of WandaVision, Agatha All Along, and the upcoming series,’Vision Quest.’
