Tomb Raider Remaster Gets New Update
Key Takeaways
- Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered’s latest update improves the user experience with bug fixes and quality-of-life changes.
- Update 4 addresses issues like asoft lock in Tomb Raider 1 and graphical glitches.
- Aspyr announced Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered is in the works, set to release on February 14, 2025.
Aspyr has rolled out Update 4 for Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered: Starring Lara Croft, addressing a range of issues and adding a few quality-of-life features. A compilation featuring revamped versions of the first three games in the iconic franchise, Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered was released on multiple platforms in February 2024. Since then, developer Aspyr has regularly updated the title to generally improve the user experience.
One of the more notable updates came in April, just a few months after the compilation was released. Shortly after launch, Aspyr had made a stealth change, removing the pinup posters of Lara Croft usually found at the beginning of Tomb Raider 3’s fourth level. Their disappearance was not mentioned in the patch notes but was quickly noticed by players, and after some outcry, the developer restored the censored Lara Croft posters to Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered.

Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered: 7 Things That Need To Be Improved
An official remaster of Tomb Raider 4-6 is on the way, so here’s a few things that the new and improved versions of the games could afford to fix.
Update 4, which was released on November 4, doesn’t make any such drastic changes to the games. Most notably, Aspyr fixed a soft lock that could occasionally happen in the Great Pyramid in Tomb Raider 1, as well as some graphical glitches and FMV stuttering that could occur in a few areas of the games. Skyboxes have been improved, and issues with flares and water not being consistently visible in certain locations have also been addressed.
There have been some quality-of-life changes made to Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered as well. Lara’s now modern-shaped head will bob less during cutscenes, and subtitles will no longer disappear before she or other people have finished talking. Players who like to play old school can toggle boss health bars off, and there have also been improvements to aiming, turning, and sprinting while using modern controls, which should come in handy during said boss fights. Additionally, the QR code in the Main Menu will now correctly allow players to sign up for The Society of Raiders, which provides news about the franchse and the opportunity to earn rewards and buy merch.
Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics also recently announced that Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered is currently in development, with a release date set for February 14, 2025. This second upgraded compilation will give franchise fans enhanced versions of Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Chronicles, and The Angel of Darkness. It will be available to purchase for $30, and preorders are already open. Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered will be released on PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
