In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the goddess Mythal plays a pivotal role in the story, and players will have to face her at one point to ask for her aid in the upcoming battle against the Evil Elven Gods. Some players might be wondering if they should bargain with the goddess, or just fight her and steal her power.

How To Complete Regrets Of The Dread Wolf – Convince Or Fight Mythal?
During the completion of Regrets of the Dread Wolf Quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, players will be able to pry into the past of Solas (aka Fen’Harel, the Dread Wolf) and see for themselves all his misdeeds. At some point, after witnessing the five cutscenes and discussing them with the whole team, Rook will be called to the Crossroads, where the mysterious Morrigan will appear and warn them about a fragment of the Goddess Mythal being “still alive,” deep in the labyrinth of the Fade.
Players will have to board the Caretaker’s Boat to a new island in the Crossroads, and face the Goddess Fragment. But, before taking the boat, they should be aware of two possible outcomes. The first is the easiest way to solve this encounter, which is by Convincing Mythal to give her aid to Rook and the team, relinquishing her essence to them without a fight. The other is failing to convince Mythal, and having to face her in the shape of a High Dragon called Mythal’s Retribution.
It is important to mention that Convincing Mythal is a prerequisite for the “good ending” or “true ending” of the game, saving Solas and bringing up a new Golden Age to Thedas. It also has repercussions on the “Clearing the Corruption” Crossroads Quest, since Mythal will offer her aid one additional time when players face the Revenant Dragon.
On the other hand, if players want to go for another type of ending, they should avoid convincing Mythal, instead taking her power by force by slaying her in Dragon Form. This will yield the same rewards as the first option, but it will alter the outcome considerably.
Killing Mythal’s Retribution is not considered part of the
Bringing Down the Sky
trophy/achievement, so there’s no need to fight this dragon — unless players want the extra challenge or are looking for a different ending.

How To Convince Mythal To Help You In Dragon Age: The Veilguard
To persuade Mythal to give Rook her remaining essence, players need to pay attention to Morrigan’s clues during the previous part of the “Regrets of the Dread Wolf” quest. Once consulted on “how should I convince Mythal,” Morrigan will reveal some important information on the Goddess’s mindset and the pattern players should follow in the conversation.
To simplify things, here’s every choice players need to take to Convince Mythal during the dialogue cutscene:
- Choose: “I want your help”
- Choose: “We must stop the Blight,” followed by “You stood against it.”
- Choose: “We must stop the Gods,” followed by “They wronged you.”
- Finally, choose: “Solas is helping us,” followed by “You respected him.”
If done correctly, Mythal will explain to the players that their choice of words was correct, and she will deliver them her remaining essence in the form of a statuette. This will also unlock the option of Mythal aiding them in the Crossroads when players fight against the “Revenant Dragon” in the “Heart of the Corruption” quest. She will appear in the form of a High Dragon and deliver two powerful blows to make the enemy Dragon fall, which will be a great help to cause a lot of damage to this powerful Boss.
Picking this choice will unlock a third option during the last sequence of the game, where players will confront Solas once more. They should then pick the third new option that appears between “Fight” and “Trick.” This will make Solas turn himself in, redeeming himself and disappearing into the Fade forever.
In case the players picked a Female Elf Inquisitor as part of the pre-game choices, and the “Solas Lover” and “Tried to Save Solas” backgrounds for this character, there will be yet another hidden ending, where the Inquisitor and Solas kiss and disappear into the Fade forever.
