Supercell acquires 100% of Space Ape Games, London Studio to be operational by Spring 2025

Supercell, the renowned Finnish mobile game developer behind hits like Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and Brawl Stars, has acquired 100% of Space Ape Games, the London-based developer. The acquisition is set to be completed by Spring 2025, with a studio of Supercell in London expected to be fully operational by then.

Supercell had acquired a majority stake in Space Ape back in 2017

Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen expressed excitement about the deal, and shared: “We believe the best teams create the best games, so we are excited to find our place within London’s incredibly talented games ecosystem by joining forces with Space Ape”.

Paananen added that the move would strengthen Supercell’s global teams and contribute to their “mission of creating great games that as many people as possible play for years”. Space Ape CEO John Earner expressed delight and stated: “We’ve loved working closely with Supercell for many years, and this move is the next stage in that partnership.”

Space Ape, known for music games like Beatstar and Country Star, also gave us experiences like Chrome Valley Customs and TRANSFORMERS: Earth Wars. The company has worked closely with Supercell since 2017 when the Finnish developer acquired a majority stake of 62% in Space Ape, which increased to 75% in 2022.

This move aims to establish Supercell’s presence in the UK by having a new office in London, adding to its existing studios in Helsinki, Shanghai, San Francisco, and Seoul. With this new deal, we players can expect better gaming experiences on our mobile devices, and hoping these dish out very soon.
