Honkai: Star Rail has a couple of months left before it launches its next major update in 2025. The highly-anticipated Version 3.0 will be the start of the next chapter on the fourth planet, where the Trailblazer will also meet new characters and face new challenges. This could also mean that Honkai: Star Rail will introduce updated gameplay mechanics to cater to upcoming missions.
One of the most prominent rumors for Version 3.0 onwards is the possibility of Remembrance becoming the next playable Path. Unlike its function in the Simulated Universe, which mostly focuses on freeze effects and Effect RES, the leaked Remembrance Path allegedly allows characters to summon independent servants during combat. This could be the first time that HoYoverse will introduce a mechanic like this in Honkai: Star Rail, and the meta shift might be interesting.

Understanding Honkai: Star Rail’s Rumored Servant Mechanic
A number of Honkai: Star Rail leaks have teased a possible summon mechanic, where certain characters could be given the ability to bring forth new allies onto the battlefield. Recently, prominent leaker HomDGCat shared information about characters being able to summon so-called “servants,” which players could allegedly control independently to deal Servant DMG and Servant Ability to foes.
- Servant: A rumored independent summon for Remembrance characters, which Honkai: Star Rail fans could allegedly control through a separate set of commands in battle.
The concept of servants seems to be similar to the special combat during the “Friendship is Magic” limited-time event, where Honkai: Star Rail fans can accomplish certain conditions in order to control the Lordly Trashcans’ abilities and order them to attack enemies. Likewise, allegedly giving servants the power to fight independently with the help of players’ strategies also has the same vibe as the Persona games, because the main characters get paired up with powerful monsters to defeat evil forces. The only question now would be how Honkai: Star Rail would pull off this mechanic with its future Remembrance characters, and how each servant would differ from each character.
Right now, only Trailblazer and
rumored new character Aglaea
are allegedly confirmed as Path of Remembrance characters. This is still subject to change before the release of Version 3.0 and beyond.
Meanwhile, there’s also a possibility that the servant mechanic could be related to Honkai: Star Rail‘s upcoming Fate/Stay Night collaboration, which is launching in 2025. The Fate series is known for its Master/Servant relationships, where mages are paired up with famous heroes to overcome challenges. While it’s still unknown what the collaboration would entail, especially in terms of gameplay, it’s possible that Fate‘s Master/Servant trope could either be the origin of the servant mechanic, or it’s the franchise’s way of adapting to Honkai: Star Rail‘s new Path ability.
Expanding Honkai: Star Rail’s Team Play With the Rumored Servant Mechanic
Honkai: Star Rail has existing characters, like Topaz and Huohuo, who depend on the aid of their passive companions to deal damage to enemies and apply buffs to allies during battle. A similar system can be seen with Zenless Zone Zero‘s Bangboos, which act on their own to attack enemies and provide support. The rumored servant mechanic could be a possible step-up to this, as it would give more autonomy to the Remembrance characters’ summons.
If the rumors are reliable, there’s a lot of potential to expand team play in Honkai: Star Rail and give fans opportunities to create strong team compositions that take into account the abilities of the independent servants. It would be interesting to see how the alleged Path of Remembrance will shake up Honkai: Star Rail in the future, especially with a brand-new planet and story to navigate in the next few updates.
