Key Takeaways
- We know Pokemon TCG Pocket has God Packs, but what we can’t decide on is whether those God Packs can be Wonder Picked.
- Some players believe that they cannot, whereas others claim you can, some of them bringing evidence to back up their claims.
- Whether a God Pack can be Wonder Picked or not might depend on the rarities of its cards, but it’s not entirely clear for now.
Pokemon TCG Pocket was rolled out worldwide last week and it didn’t take long for its players to discover that it has God Packs. Packs where every single card is a one-star illustration rare or higher. If you know someone who has just opened a God Pack, then your instinct will be to jump into the game as soon as possible to try and Wonder Pick from it. However, the jury is out on whether God Packs are included in Wonder Picks.
Pocket’s first God Packs were discovered within hours of the mobile game’s full launch. Even though there’s a 0.05 percent chance of finding a God Pack, with so many people playing – the app was downloaded ten million times in its first two days – odds are quite few God Packs are being opened. Some players have been sharing when they’ve opened a God Pack so others can try to Wonder Pick from them, and it’s those alerts that have begun the days-long debate.

Dragoran’s post on Twitter telling people to go Wonder Pick their God Pack got a lot of attention over the weekend. That included a note from Nathan Ellingsworth informing those trying to Wonder Pick Dragoran that God Packs don’t show up in Wonder Picks. On the flip side of that, Pocket player Jay P has shared evidence of a Special Illustration Rare Articuno that they Wonder Picked from a God Pack, providing a screenshot of the pack from which they picked it as evidence.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Players Can’t Decide If The Game Lets You Wonder Pick God Packs
Even Hard Evidence Isn’t Enough
Special Illustration Rare’s are the full name for cards with a two-star rarity rating and there’s a very real chance that detail clears up the Wonder Pick God Pack confusion. It seems that cards with a two-star rarity rating or lower can appear in Wonder Picks. However, Immersive Cards (three stars) and Hyper Rares (crowns) cannot.
Since a God Pack can be made up of cards that have anything from a one-star rarity or higher, then it’s possible packs made up entirely of Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares will show up in Wonder Picks, whereas packs containing even just one card with anything rare than that will not. There’s also a belief among some that God Packs have shown up in Wonder Picks, hence the screenshots, but have since been removed.
With so many people playing such an immensely popular, brand new game, the discoveries about Pokemon TCG Pocket have been coming at us thick and fast. Players already appear to have confirmed cards in packs are determined when you hit open pack which means spinning the carousel is pointless. There are also foreign language cards to collect for true completionists.
