Vampire Survivors has some rather familiar-looking characters that just about steer clear of legal trouble. Still, with the new Ode to Castlevania DLC, every main character in the series is present and accounted for. This includes characters from the classic platform games, such as Simon and Trevor Belmont, and the heroes from the Metroidvania adventures, like Soma and Shanoa.
Like the rest of the DLC packs, Vampire Survivors doesn’t make it easy to get everyone on your side. The first character is usually a giveaway, but from that point on, you need to accomplish a task to unlock them before buying them from the character selection screen. Therefore, we recommend to farm plenty of gold coins so you can afford to buy everyone when they become available. Below, you’ll find all the characters and every method for unlocking them.

Newcomers to Vampire Survivors should check out the following tips to ensure they hit the ground running.
How to unlock Vampire Survivors Ode to Castlevania Characters
There are 21 Vampire Survivors Ode to Castlevania characters you can unlock from the get-go. Each has a specific requirement, such as navigating each level to find boss runes, triggering weapon evolutions for a character’s default weapon, or even opening new coffins. There are some brief descriptions about which weapon is their default piece of gear, their starting stats, how they increase with every rank, and a unique ability that can change how you play that character. Some are inherently frailer than others, with Richter and Alucard being tougher than more inexperienced hunters like Grant Danasty or Jonathan Morris.
Many of the characters you unlock are Belmonts, which all have a unique whip weapon. However, plenty of supporting characters also play a major role, such as Charlotte Aulin and the two Belnades descendants with their magical tomes. Other characters hellbent on eradicating Dracula once and for all also appear here, alongside more conventional weapons like swords and spears. You can speed up the entire unlocking process by playing with a friend in Vampire Survivors co-op, and luckily, you can also unlock this gear for use across the entire roster by fulfilling certain conditions. You don’t have to stick with an awful character if they don’t have decent stats or an ability you like.
