In 2020, The Roads of Avalon were introduced for solo players, and up to groups of twenty or so players, to enjoy a risky but rewarding late-game area for every type of player. This guide will show you how to get there, what you can find, and give tips along the way.
What Are The Roads Of Avalon?
The Roads of Avalon are a separate area from the rest of the Albion world, existing in the center of the Outlands — which is the second and larger continent, with Black Zones only.
Much like the Outlands, the Roads of Avalon also only have Black Zones. When you die to a player, you lose everything you had on your person.
Every Avalonian area has a specific use, and the way to access them changes constantly. No area is in one place at all times, and no area can be accessed the same way at all times.
How To Get To The Roads Of Avalon
Across the world of Albion, you can find Avalonian Portals. These lead you straight to Avalon, and can be found in every area above tier 4 in both the Royal Continent and the Outlands.
Every portal has a set timer for when it disappears, and a set amount of charges players can use. Once a player enters the portal, one charge is used up, and each charge recharges after five minutes.
There are three types of portals:
- Blue portals – Most common, with seven charges
- Yellow portals – Less common, with twenty charges
- Unstable portals – only found in Brecilien and the Mists. The Brecilien one leads you to a random Road of Avalon, whilst the Mist portals lead you to a random area on the continents.
The tier of the area that has the Avalonian portal dictates the tier of the Road you’re about to enter, thus T4 zones will lead to T4 Roads of Avalon.
How To Decipher Portals In Avalon
Once you’re in Avalon, you can find other portals leading to new areas. These can either lead back into the continents, or to another Road of Avalon.
Portals have podiums with three sliding circles. These circles indicate what awaits on the other side of the portal, and you can decipher them using the Avalonian Codex:
The outer circle determines the type of area you will be visiting. Starting from the hollow circle symbol, going clockwise, the symbols translate as follows.

What Can You Find In Avalon?
Avalon is the best place to find loot for small and large groups, and solo players can enjoy the best method of obtaining resources. Both parties can enjoy all the rewards, and there is content for each type of player. Avalon also has some of the best combat Fame rewards in the entire game.
What Loot Awaits In Avalon
In Avalon, you can hope to find most activities you can find in regular Black Zones, including Corrupted, Solo and Group Dungeons and world events like Crystal Spiderlings and Small and Medium Treasure Chests.
There is some Avalon-exclusive content to be found, however, such as:
- Chests, locked behind camps that need to be cleared.
- Avalonian Raids, meant for large groups with millions of silver as rewards.
Avalonian Raids require you to find the special portals associated with them, and then mapping out the way you got there so you can signal to your Guild to join in on the fun.
Chests, on the other hand, spawn in almost every single Road you visit, and have a quest associated with them.
How To Find And Clear Chest Camps
Chests that are locked behind camps are the main content in Avalon for most players. They require clearing camps, by killing most of the mobs in the area.
You don’t need to hunt down every last one, since the chest will open when enough mobs are killed.
Each large chest icon you see on the minimap or local map has a camp of mobs around it. The color of the chest signifies the difficulty, and target audience, of the camp — and they go as follows:
- Green Chests are meant for solo/duo players
- Blue Chests are meant for small groups of up to five players
- Yellow Chests are meant for large groups of up to twenty players
These camps are difficult, so we recommend always having at least some healing abilites to help you clear them.
They have a rarity system, from Common to Legendary, and the rarity of the chest is the same for the entire party clearing the camp.
The quality of loot you obtain depends mostly on the tier of the zone you enter, and a quick way to determine this if you haven’t read the portal rings is to check the tier of any mobs that aren’t resource mobs. They will always be the same tier that the zone is.
What Resources Await in Avalon?
Apart from the loot, Avalon offers the best place to gather resources. All five types of resources can be found here, and they range from tier 4 to tier 8, depending on the tier of the Road you’re in.
The reason Avalon is the best is because of special resource mobs that can spawn here; The Old Elementals and The Aspects.
Whilst regular resource nodes and resource mobs have only five resources to offer, Old mobs have exponentially more resources depending on the tier — up to a few hundred at lower tiers. Old mobs are far harder to kill, however, so you may need either a strong build or a duo to heal you.
There are also, very rarely, The Aspect resource mobs. These are boss enemies, which require a small group to defeat, or at least a very strong duo team, and they have even more resources than Old mobs.
Enchanted resources can spawn in Avalon too, but are slightly rarer than in the open world.
