How To Drop Items In The Forest
Inventory is a key resource for survival in Endnight Games’ The Forest. It holds everything you might need, from meds and food to weapons, skins, and other items. Players can use these items to heal, regain energy, craft armor, or make tools.
However, one’s inventory in The Forest has its limits. Once it’s full, nothing more can be added until you make some room, so clearing items out will become necessary. For those unsure of what this process entails, this guide aims to help gamers figure out how to drop items in The Forest.

Traps can be a huge help when dealing with aggressive cannibals in The Forest; here are the best ones players should build.
How To Drop Items In The Forest
Unlike other games, dropping stuff isn’t as straightforward in The Forest. Players can only throw away a few items, while most things just go back into your inventory. To drop something, open your inventory by pressing ‘I,’ select what you want to remove, and hit the ‘G’ button. Depending on what it is, it’ll either fall to the ground or return to your inventory.
For example, pressing ‘G’ on a stick puts it back in your inventory, but doing the same with fresh or spoiled meat makes it drop. In a way, the drop system acts more like an unequip feature in the game, with only a few exceptions.
Every item in your inventory has a limit. If you pick up more than you can carry, the extras will automatically spill out. To really free up space, try using consumables like snacks, MEDS, and soda, combining materials, or setting up storage for items you don’t need right away.
How To Empty The Inventory In The Forest
To remove items from your inventory, you can build a storage unit and stash your gathered items there. Luckily, the game gives you a bunch of storage options to choose from. Here’s a list of the storage units available in the game, along with their item capacity:

The Forest: Where to Find Boars
Hunting boars in The Forest provides food and supplies, but they’re tricky to find and spook easily. If you’re having trouble, this guide can help.
To create a storage unit, open your Survival Guide by pressing the ‘B’ button. Then, click the down-arrow icon in the top navigation to access the storage options. From there, you can choose any rack, cabinet, or item holder you want to make. The storage section has three pages; players can flip to the next one by hitting the ‘Storage2’ or ‘Storage3’ icons located in the bottom right corner.
Each storage structure will require materials like sticks and logs to build. Once you collect the resources and construct the shelf, you can move items from your inventory there by clicking ‘C.’ Players can add things back to their inventory by hitting the ‘E’ button on the keyboard.
