Aeshi Nero is the second boss you can encounter in Metal Slug Tactics. It’s the boss at the end of the tombs region, and cursed mummies will accompany this robotic snake. Its gigantic beam and how it changes the arena can be a bit tricky to deal with.

Just like with the previous boss, you’ll have to complete three levels in Herkanet Tombs. After that, an alert will pop up and you won’t have any other possible action than facing Aeshi Nero.
Once in the arena, you’ll see regular soldiers (can be the ones with grenades, snipers, and the normal ones) and mummies (regular mummies, dog mummies, and the ones with a crown).
Aeshi Nero can mark an area close to it to attack with its whole body, mark areas far away from itself to send delayed projectiles, or prepare a beam that will cover almost all the arena. The first three moves won’t be anything new to you, but this beam means trouble: if you’re hit, your unit will be automatically knocked out (unless it has Protection).
To cover your squad from the beam, you’ll notice that there are some metallic walls on specific points in the arena. You need to position your units behind those, which will prevent any damage.
After the beam, the whole arena will change, with new enemies, obstacles, covers, and Aeshi Nero moving to another side. Your characters will also change positions, normally appearing far from danger but in random tiles.
How To Defeat Aeshi Nero
As usual, you shouldn’t focus too much on the regular enemies around Aeshi Nero — if you attack the boss with your three units as much as possible, the battle won’t last long. Your main concern should be to be far away from the reach of the mummified enemies, or at least with enough Dodge and Cover to avoid their attacks so your units won’t transform into mummies.
Having your characters transformed isn’t the worst-case scenario. In fact, their special moves will deal a lot of damage if you’re in range, which can be pretty useful against the big snake.
However, if you already have a strategy based on your special actions, you won’t be able to use them for a whole turn. Plus, being mummified significantly reduces your mobility, leaving you exposed to some dangerous attacks.
Remember that every attack from the boss can damage the rest of the enemies. Aeshi Nero always repeats the order in which it uses its moves: after a couple of turns, expect the beam. This attack will clean the scenario,
Having at least one unit with long-range weapons, like the explosive ones, or abilities that can attack from far away is a must for this fight. Trying to get close to the boss for a knife attack can get difficult thanks to the range of its attacks.
Perform one Synchronization attack during each of your turns if possible with your three units. You can’t do more than one of these synergy attacks in the same turn since the boss has a special protection that is up after receiving one Synchronization attack and lasts for one turn.
The rest of your efforts should be put into attacking as much as you can, being close to the metallic walls in the area, ready to take cover when the time comes. Each change of the arena after the beam can become a bit troublesome because you’ll need to start from scratch with your positioning, but if you play your cards well, you won’t see the arena change more than once or twice.
If you have come this far with at least one Asset, it would be a great time to use them. For example, the one that gives Protection would be great for letting you receive the beam — something that can be useful because taking cover with the walls doesn’t let you attack, which means that you’ll spend a turn only being defensive.
Don’t forget that the boss will always be the first one to move and attack during the enemy’s turn.
