While you might’ve been successful in stopping Solas’s ritual in its tracks, that plan has only backfired. Some of the Evanuris are once more upon the physical world in Dragon Age: The Veilguard and you’ll have already caught a glimpse of their corruptive power in D’Meta’s Crossing.

It’s time for a spooky treasure hunt.
To stand a chance, you’ll need to gather some serious power of your own, starting with finding the Lyrium Dagger — Solas’s tool to perform the ritual. While lost in the chaos, you’ll return to the Ritual Site in “The Singing Blade” quest to search for it, hoping to get it before the gods do.
How To Get The Lyrium Dagger
After reporting your findings in Shadows Crossing to Strife and Irelin, the Singing Blade quest will begin shortly after, and you’ll find yourself in the Ritual Site once more to recover Solas’s dagger. First, you’ll have to speak to Harding, who’s still caught up in her indecisiveness during the Solas mess. Here, you’ll have three dialogue options, but consider going with “We all carry blame”, as you’ll earn approval from both Harding and Neve.
The other choices have no effect, but feel free to go with your preferred response if you’re not aiming at romancing either.
Once you’ve settled that, head toward the ritual grounds where Solas lost the dagger. Drop down from the scaffolds on the left to get there, but it seems someone’s beaten you to it — this becomes clear when you encounter a Darkspawn ghoul who bolts as soon as you enter through the door.
For now, you’ll want to follow this creature deeper into the ruins, as it’s your best lead on reclaiming the dagger.
The Beam Generator
Destroy the Blight to your left to clear the path, then head up the stairs. While the ghoul scurries off, another, larger Darkspawn drops down from the crumbled archway ahead. Once you’ve handled it, you’ll need to unlock the large metal gate using a Beam Generator, which you’ll find on that same archway.
Start by breaking through the wooden barricade up ahead to expose a narrow crack in the wall, just wide enough to squeeze through. You’ll find some loot on a ledge to your right — grab it, then continue along the broken path to reach the device.
Interact with the Beam Generator and aim its beam at the energy node above the gate. The gate will open up, and you can continue chasing down our dagger thief.
The Blighted Bridge Puzzle
As you step into the next area, pick up any scattered loot before moving toward the clearing outside, where a swarm of Darkspawn will emerge from pools of Blight. Clear them out, then deal with the Blight barrier blocking your path forward.
The ghoul is still in sight, but you’ll soon approach another puzzle on a blighted bridge. Start by destroying the exposed Blight node on the left side, then cross the bridge; next, remove the power crystal from the mechanism, causing the bridge to retract and reveal another node underneath. Destroy that one as well.
This will weaken the concentrated Blight mass in the center, and you’ll be able to destroy it completely now. A passage to a room will open up, and you’ll find another elven mechanism inside. Grab the previous power crystal and insert it into the mechanism to unlock the door, allowing you to proceed.
The Locked Gate And Double Beam Generator Puzzle
Just before you’re able to catch up with the dagger-snatching ghoul, you’ll encounter an optional puzzle involving two Beam Generators and a large metal gate blocking a treasure chest, which is worth solving.
After dealing with the Darkspawn enemies in this area, head toward the first Beam Generator above the stairs and aim its beam at the energy node on the right side of the gate. The second Generator is a bit more hidden.
To reach it, you’ll have to destroy a wooden barricade in a cavity to the left of the gate. This reveals a crack that you can squeeze through and then climb a ladder on the other side. After that, use the fallen column to jump over to the second generator platform. Aim this beam at the other node to unlock the gate.
With the gate open, you can grab the chest’s loot for a weapon and some gold. Before leaving, climb the nearby ladder for additional loot.
Once you’re ready, proceed onward by destroying the Blight obstacle and drop down into the ravine after dealing with some enemies. The Darkspawn ghoul, still holding the Lyrium Dagger, is cornered just up ahead.
Be sure to explore the backside of the ravine for more loot, including a large chest containing armor.
How To Beat The Lyrium Ghoul
After all that chasing, the Lyrium Ghoul isn’t much of a threat — it’s as weak as you’d expect. The boss attacks frenetically, inflicts necrosis in a red cone-shaped area, and can deal some damage with its claws if it lands a hit. Unlike some other enemies in the Singing Blade quest, the Lyrium Ghoul has no unavoidable moves, so you can freely block and weave around its attacks and take it down quickly.
After defeating it, a cutscene will trigger where you’ll finally claim the Lyrium Dagger for a brief moment, along with Harding acquiring some strange powers. However, things aren’t over quite yet, as a swarm of Darkspawn will emerge from Blight pools, and once they’re defeated, the Lyrium Ghoul will return once more, now shielded by a barrier and more aggressive.
In this second encounter, the ghoul uses the Blight pools to its advantage to teleport around the arena when threatened. Don’t give it a chance, though; hit it hard and fast using the newly learned Primers and Detonators and your stored Ultimate to finish the fight once and for all.
Rewards For Completing The Singing Blade
After the Lyrium Ghoul showdown and securing the Lyrium Dagger, you’ll find yourself back at the Lighthouse. You’ll have a bunch of dialogues to walk through, and while the initial dialogue choices contemplate Harding’s newfound abilities, in the dialogue options that follow you can spark a potential romance with Harding by selecting “You’re not a problem”, or if you don’t see her like that, picking “Just make sure to aim” will still win her approval.
Once the conversation wraps up, the Singing Blade quest is completed, and you’ll get the following rewards:
- 1,850 XP
- My Regards Shortbow for Harding
- 300 Gold
