Every Shotgun In Once Human, Ranked

In a post-apocalyptic world like Once Human, chances are you’ll usually always get surrounded and even cornered by Deviants and other monsters. In those cases, having a slow weapon with minimal AoE, like a sniper or pistol, won’t be enough to fend them off. Thus, when the time is right, you can pull out a shotgun from your backpack and completely decimate anything that comes near you.

Compared to other weapon categories, the game has a lot more shotguns—approximately ten. You have significantly higher options and opportunities for unlocking and using this specific weapon type. So, when picking a shotgun to center a build around, which one stands out?

10

DBSG

Rarity: Common

  • How To Unlock Blueprint: Unlock the Basic Gear Memetic in the Memetics Menu.

The DBSG serves as the introductory shotgun for beginners, so, as you’d expect, its overall performance is subpar. Like any common-tier weapon, this shotgun doesn’t come with any passive abilities, severely hindering its overall usage.

Fortunately, you don’t need to spend too much trying to get its Weapon Blueprint since you just require an early-game Memetic. On top of that, the DBSG’s damage output and fire rate don’t push it too far back from a few higher-class shotguns. From a foundational standpoint, this shotgun is much more future-proof than other beginner guns.

9

Old Huntsman

Rarity: Rare

The Old Huntsman has nearly identical stats to its common-tier counterpart, the DBSG. However, what separates it is its Weapon Feature, which has a 35 percent chance of triggering The Bull’s Eye effect. This feature highlights marked targets and makes them suffer from eight percent more damage for 12 seconds.

Bull’s Eye is a fairly common Weapon Feature among various guns, so seeing it on the Old Huntsman makes it a reliable choice. Of course, this also makes this shotgun a good choice for early-game Bull’s Eye builds since the alternative is much harder to come by.

S870 – Sandstorm

  • How To Unlock Blueprint: Loot the Mystical Crate at High Banks.

As the only true pump-action shotgun in Once Human, using the S870 – Sandstorm feels extremely safe yet rewarding. It’s a solid choice for any intermediate player because of its solid blend between range and stability, though the damage output slightly holds it back.

The Sandstorm’s strongest feature is definitely its passive ability, Fortress Warfare, letting it comfortably go into Support builds. Upon switching to this weapon, nearby allies get a boost to damage and heavy armor. As such, when you go into boss battles with friends, having a gun to grant repeated buffs is a massive bonus.

7

Dual Fury

Rarity: Epic

  • How To Unlock Blueprint: Loot the Mystical Crate at Iron River.

Burn is a lethal DoT effect in Once Human, which is why it’s such a popular build against bosses. Thus, with Dual Fury’s main selling point being that it regularly inflicts the Burn status, you can imagine why so many players use this shotgun against powerful enemies.

Although it’s not the most effective Burn-inflicting shotgun in the game, the Dual Fury applies it more frequently—usually after every second shot. Once you upgrade it, you even have the option to trade HP for additional attack power and inflicting Vulnerability, similar to what The Bull’s Eye effect does. So, players valuing the status effect over raw stats should definitely consider this shotgun.

6

ACS12 – Netherworld

Rarity: Epic

No other shotgun has the potential to shoot as fast as the Netherworld, arguably the quickest weapon in the ACS12 lineup. Although its base fire rate is the same as other shotguns in this sub-category, its Fast Gunner Weapon Feature takes it up a notch. With this, you can slightly raise your fire rate and attack power, which can stack up to five times.

You have a 50 percent chance of triggering the ability if you successfully land all projectiles shooting out of a bullet. Furthermore, once you upgrade the ACS12 – Netherworld, you can shoot more projectiles and gain even more DPS. The only tricky part is activating the Fast Gunner since hitting all the projectiles is tougher than it sounds.

5

DB12 – Backfire

Rarity: Epic

  • How To Unlock Blueprint: Available at the Wish Machine for 2,000 Starchrom.

For Frost Vortex builds, the DB12 – Backfire can be an optimal choice because it fits in naturally with the effect. With Frost Vortex as its Weapon Feature, this shotgun can trigger the effect after five hits, causing frost damage for up to four seconds.

However, the real highlight happens upon upgrading the Backfire, after which you can freeze enemies with Frost Vortex. This lets you get up close and deal massive damage with your shotgun—a nightmare for any Elite enemy with mediocre HP.

Use the Vortex Multiplier Mod on the DB12 – Backfire to increase the maximum number of Frost Vortexes +1 and deal ten percent more Frost Vortex DMG.

4

DB12 – Raining Cash

Rarity: Legendary

  • How To Unlock Blueprint: Available at the Wish Machine for 8,000 Starchrom.

Only a handful of weapons in Once Human offer as much incentive to upgrade as the DB12 – Raining Cash. Sharing a similar passive ability with the S870 – Sandstorm, Fortress Warfare, this shotgun activates its effect on reloading instead of switching, reducing your vulnerability window.

What sets Raining Cash apart, however, is the added protection and enhanced damage. Instead of simply being a Support weapon, this shotgun grants up to 40 percent more attack power, a 30 percent higher Crit Rate, and a 30 percent damage reduction—all simultaneously. Fully upgraded, the DB12 – Raining Cash is hands down the game’s best all-purpose shotgun.

3

DBSG – Doombringer

Rarity: Legendary

  • How To Unlock Blueprint: Available at the Wish Machine for 8,000 Starchrom.

To put it simply, the DBSG – Doombringer is the upgraded and rarer variant of the Old Huntsman. It has better range, damage output, and stability. Moreover, The Bull’s Eye ability comes with better DPS buffs and can now also reduce incoming damage while raising the Crit Rate by 30 percent.

For Bull’s Eye builds, this is certainly a must-have choice. Most meta builds of this archetype use the AWS .338 sniper, so having a shotgun as a secondary weapon can create a fun dynamic. Also, the additional bonuses with each Tier Upgrade stack impressively well, and the Vulnerability Amplifier Mod for the Doombringer can noticeably enhance the debuff.

2

ACS12 – Corrosion

Rarity: Legendary

  • How To Unlock Blueprint: Available at the Wish Machine for 8,000 Starchrom.

Except for the R500 – Hammerhead pistol, Power Surge builds don’t have many firearm options when it comes to close-range powerhouses. In those cases, the ACS12 – Corrosion shines—a legendary-tier shotgun with a whopping 70 percent chance of inflicting Power Surge with each shot.

As you upgrade the Corrosion, you unlock more buffs associated with Power Surge, which is applied after triggering it. This includes increased Crit Rate, Crit Damage, and Damage Factor, respectively.

The ACS12 – Corrosion does not inflict the Power Surge status. This means the affected enemy will receive the initial Shock Damage but not the extended accuracy debuff.

1

ACS12 – Pyroclasm

Rarity: Legendary

  • How To Unlock Blueprint: Available at the Wish Machine for 8,000 Starchrom.

Unlike the Dual Fury, which guarantees a Burn effect, the ACS12 – Pyroclasm introduces a chance-based mechanic with significantly higher rewards. With a 27 percent chance of inflicting Burn and a 20 percent chance of gaining a Deviant Particle to enter Charge state after each hit, this shotgun is truly a machine.

Charge is, by far, the most powerful passive ability available to shotguns in Once Human. While in this state, reloading enables Blaze Damage, nearly doubling your current attack power while applying Burn. It’s safe to say the Pyroclasm is undoubtedly the most powerful DPS shotgun and an ideal weapon for Burn builds.
