Cooler Master has heard the pleas of those who like the Shark X but aren’t keen on its price tag and, as reported by PCGamesN, is now selling a much cheaper option. The empty version of the case, so one that doesn’t have a 14th gen Intel Core i7 14700F inside along with everything else you need to run your games, is now available to buy in Japan. Naturally the case without its inner workings costs a lot less than $7,000, but maybe not so much less that you’ll be in a hurry to get one shipped halfway around the world.

Japan’s Yodobashi Akiba store is selling the Shark X case for 658,000 yen and even before I’ve converted that into US currency, you can likely tell that it’s still a lot of money. Even without all of the high-tech stuff you’ll need to run your games, the novelty of having a PC case that looks like a robotic shark sent from the future leaping out of the water is still going to cost you somewhere in the region of $4,300, and that’s before you’ve started buying things to go inside after opting for the cheaper empty option.

Cooler Master is well known for its rather unique PC designs and while most are pricey, not all of them cost quite as much as the Shark X. The PC builder’s most famous cases are the ones designed to look like oversized sneakers, and one that looks suspiciously like a Sonic shoe is available for $2,300. It was available for even less as it was on sale at Woot last month, but unfortunately, that sale has now ended.
