Would Jamie Lee Curtis Play Laurie Strode In Halloween Again?

Jamie Lee Curtis has addressed whether she would play final girl Laurie Strode in a future Halloween movie. The beloved actress, whose recent roles in The Bear and Everything Everywhere All At Once were impressive, gave an interview to Entertainment Weekly in late October 2024 and briefly mentioned her iconic character.

Curtis talked about what’s next for her acting career, such as the TV show Scarpetta and the movies The Lost Bus and Freakier Friday. She also talked about Halloween, which is one of the most significant horror franchises. Of course, fans have been wondering for the past few years if Curtis would be interested in portraying Laurie again.

I Think This Huluween Movie Is The Best/Worst Halloween Story In Years

A fun and entertaining horror movie is now available to stream on Hulu as part of its Huluween event, and I think it’s worth checking out.

Although Curtis said she has thanked Laurie and has put that character in the past, she alluded to not saying that she’s 100 percent done with the character. Curtis said:

“I have hung up my bell-bottoms and my pale blue button-down shirt, and I have relinquished [Laurie] to the ages with a warm, ‘aloha,’ and a thanks for all the years and memories.”

Curtis added:

“And yet, if I’ve learned anything in my 65 years on the planet, it’s never say never.”

Although there are no official plans for another Halloween movie, it sounds like Curtis might be open to portraying her famous character if the opportunity came up. Slasher fans would definitely be happy if that was the case. Curtis played Laurie in Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998), and Halloween: Resurrection (2002) before returning for David Gordon Green’s 2020s trilogy. Although fans enjoyed revisiting the final girl’s quest to defeat Michael Myers in the 2018 reboot Halloween, 2021’s Halloween Kills and 2022’s Halloween Ends were less universally beloved. Laurie wasn’t used properly in Halloween Kills, and although Halloween Ends had memorable kills, fans criticized the strange dynamic between Corey Cunnigham (Ronan Campbell) and Michael Myers.

Curtis has enjoyed an incredible career that spans beyond the horror genre, having starred in movies ranging from My Girl to Borderlands, Knives Out, You Again, and Christmas With The Kranks. But, like Scream fans were hopeful that Neve Campbell would return to the slasher franchise, audiences would be thrilled to see Curtis take on her final girl once again.

If another filmmaker took on Halloween, whether making one more film or another trilogy, it would be fun to see a new take on Laurie Strode facing Michael Myers. It’s true that Halloween Ends had a peaceful final scene and it seemed that the villain was truly conquered. However, many fans would agree there’s always a way to continue the story, as long as there’s a logical explanation.
