What is the Max Level in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

Leveling up is a bog-standard progression mechanic in RPGs, and players are going to be doing a lot of it in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Apart from their characters, they’ll also need to rank up their companions, allied factions, and even merchants. Luckily, saving Thedas from evil gods will give Rook enough opportunities to invest in everybody.

The list of missions for Dragon Age: The Veilguard is quite extensive, and you’ll be given more than enough time to level everyone up. In case you were wondering, here are all the upper limits that you, your companions, and every other ally can hit as you play through the game.

Male Rook in DA:V

The highest level Rook can reach is 50, and you can get up to 65 Skill Points if you find all altars of Fen’Harel. Killing enemies and finishing quests will be your main source of EXP, and as long as you’re fighting all the enemies and finishing all the quests as you go, you should be able to reach max level before reaching the final acts of the game. Every level rewards you with Skill Points, but if you want additional stats for Rook, you’ll have to find Evanuris altars or purchase Valuables.

Your companions can reach a maximum of level 10. However, they don’t level up like Rook does. Instead of gaining EXP, you can increase their Bond levels by taking them with you on missions, completing companion quests, or simply speaking with them whenever dialogue is available. Every time they level up, they’ll get more Skill Points, which you can then spend to upgrade their abilities.

Factions like the Antivan Crows and the Veil Jumpers also have levels, though they are referred to as Faction Strength in DA:V. Faction Strength can reach up to 3200 points, or three-star ratings. As a faction’s strength improves, players will be able to buy more items from their respective merchants. This also impacts the faction’s relevance in the story later on. Faction Strength can be improved by selling Valuables to faction merchants and completing side quests.

As mentioned above, Faction Strength has an impact on what wares a faction merchant has to offer. However, merchant level is separate from Faction Strength — merchants can reach up to level 4, and players can improve this by spending resources on them after hitting specific Faction Strength milestones. You can often find resources lying around or inside treasure chests. Merchants have unique wares, so make sure to commit to the faction you favor most.

The Caretaker of the Lighthouse can be leveled up to 10, and you can upgrade your equipment based on your Caretaker’s level. If you have a level 5 Caretaker, then you can only upgrade your gear up to +5. You can level the Caretaker up by collecting Mementos, items hidden in the world that give Caretaker Reputation when picked up. Some missions also reward large amounts of reputation points.
