Typhlosion Was Bulbapedia’s Most-Visited Pokemon Page In October

Typhlosion Was Bulbapedia's Most-Visited Pokemon Page In October

Key Takeaways

  • Bulbapedia has revealed Typhlosion’s page was its most visited during the month of October.
  • The spike in Typhlosion’s popularity was almost certainly brought on by the lore leaked during the Game Freak Hack.
  • The Typhlosion lore leaked revealed a story about the Pokemon having a child with a human it held captive.

Game Freak was hacked last month and the details that emerged from it include everything from what partner Pokemon we will have to choose from in Legends Z-A to what Mimikyu really looks like under that crude Pikachu disguise. The leaks have also included some pretty disturbing lore that never made it into the Pokemon games for reasons that became very clear once we got the chance to read it, and it seems the unearthed story that has piqued fans’ interest the most was the one about Typhlosion.

Just to catch you up in case you haven’t read up on what Typhlosion could have potentially been up to had this story become part of the Pokemon canon, it involves a girl taking shelter in a Typhlosion’s cave. However, when it’s safe to leave, the Pokemon forces her to stay, wipes any memories of her family and friends, and then the two of them have a child together. Really dark stuff, but despite Typhlosion’s misdeeds, the fully evolved Johto Fire-type is more popular than ever, apparently.

Does Pokemon’s disturbing lore change people’s feelings about their ink?

At least when it comes to people wanting to find out more about Typhlosion through Bulbapedia. Bulbapedia is exactly what it sounds like, that being Wikipedia for Pokemon. It has a page for each Pokemon, among other things, and at the end of each month, those who run the site share which Pokemon’s pages have been searched for the most and the least for the past month. Surprise surprise, Typhlosion topped the bill for October.

Typhlosion’s Page Was Bulbapedia’s Most-Searched During October

Looks Like That Leaked Lore Boosted The Fire-Type’s Popularity

That means Typhlosion’s Bulbapedia page was searched for more than Eevee and Pikachu’s, more than Gengar despite it being the build to Halloween, and even more than Gardevoir, the Pokemon that tends to be at the center of fantasies about Pokemon-human relations for those who are into thinking about that sort of thing. Unfortunately for Gardevoir fans, the Psychic/Fairy-type has not been a part of the leaked lore yet. Octillery has though, but for some reason fans are less interested in finding out more about that one. I wonder why?

Even though almost a month has passed since Game Freak was hacked, whoever’s responsible has continued to leak new information. Some of the more recent reveals have confirmed when exactly the first five generations of games take place on the wider Pokemon timeline, and plans for a Flying-type Eeveelution that were scrapped due to a fan design looking too similar to the one Pokemon had drawn up.
