The Veilguard Lanterns Tell You If There’s New Dialogue

The Veilguard Lanterns Tell You If There's New Dialogue

Key Takeaways

  • As Dragon Age: The Veilguard players have pointed out, lanterns at The Lighthouse tell you when a companion has new dialogue.
  • This is specifically for important conversations and new quests, as you can still check in on them and have conversations even if the lanterns aren’t lit.

You’ll spend a good chunk of time at The Lighthouse in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This hub area once belonging to Solas is situated within the Fade, and each companion you recruit will set up shop in one of its many wings.

You can pop by and have a chat with them at any time, but there’s a really handy way to know if they have any important new dialogue or potentially even new quests.

Dragon Age Fans Want Companions To Hate Each Other Again

Dragon Age fans are finding The Veilguard’s companions too nice, missing the days when they were at each other’s throats.

As pointed out by Twitter user @illiciture, the lanterns by each room’s door will light up in blue when a companion’s ready to chat. It’s a neat little trick that saves you having to check in on everybody every single time you return to The Lighthouse.

You can also check the map, which will tell you if certain conversations can expire.

Harding Has Some Unmarked Dialogue

As several commenters point out, however, Harding has some dialogue that isn’t marked on the map or by the lanterns. At the very least, it’s worth checking in on her every now and then, even if there’s nothing in-game telling you to.

The same goes for Varric, who spends the opening hours of the game having a nice nap.

You can even run into companions interacting when you’re not around (which is especially fitting since they can romance each other). But the lanterns are specifically for the important dialogue that pushes the story forward and opens up new missions. Otherwise, it’s mostly bits of banter that add character to your party.
