The Best Masks In Enotria: The Last Song
The summery soulslike RPG Enotria: The Last Song, inspired by Italian folklore and culture, presents an indisputably complex and extremely fluid combat system. A key feature of Enotria’s combat and story is the theatre-inspired masks. There are over 30 masks that can be collected throughout Enotria. Masks can be acquired by defeating bosses, farming Mask Shards, or completing questlines.

Each one with its special attributes and appearance, Maskless Ones can choose three masks to alternate between as they journey across Enotria’s sunlit world trapped in perpetual performance. But among these masks, some are far better suited to certain builds and play styles than others, with several masks having found favor within the Enotria community, possessing the best reliability and buffs the game has to offer.

The Mask of Change
Accessible And Reliable
Deceptively accessible, acquired early on as the first mask in the game after Enotria’s tutorial, the Mask of Change can become a surprisingly useful tool that remains reliable throughout the game, even though there are more powerful masks later on. It will be most effective long-term, however, for players who use a lot of Heavy attacks and are comfortable keeping close to their enemies.

The Mask of Change offers the Maskless One two special buffs: increasing the damage dealt out by Heavy attacks from melee weapons, and increasing Physical Power when Awakened. The Awakened state is triggered by either switching to the mask or executing a finishing melee attack. This state will last a mere 15 seconds, meaning it’s optimal for the player to engage an enemy with a different mask, and then switch to the Mask of Change between combat to maximize its particular Awakened state’s potential while attacking.
Heavy attacks also have their skill tree in the game, as well as attainable items that can boost their damage. Paired up with Mask of Change, you’re on your way to one aggressive, combat-ready build.
9
Gardener’s Mask
This isn’t a particularly powerful or impressive mask, but can be nice to have while getting used to Enotria’s combat. Gardener’s Mask can easily be achieved early on by farming enough Mask Shards from Gardener enemies in the Litumnia and Quinta areas.
Wearing the mask will allow the Masked One to heal by casting and inflicting damage with an Ardore Burst. While Awakened, Gardener’s Mask, also increases the amount of health that can be recovered from using Armonia Amber, the primary healing item of Enotria.
8
The Piercing Wit Mask
For The Spell-Casters
Piercing Wit is another mask achieved early on, by resting at the game’s first waypoint. This mask is, naturally, an attractive option in the early game, but essential to those who know they’ll want to emphasize leveling up their Battlemage Virtue and charging up their Ranged Mask Lines during combat. For Dark Souls fans, a Battlemage build can be regarded as a Faith/Intelligence build for Enotria.
This mask buffs the Ranged Mask Line’s damage, an increasingly effective feature when the mask is upgraded. Additionally, it charges Mask Lines upon finishing attacks during its Awakened state, which is helpful while the player settles into the game and its combat. It stands, however, that there are more powerful masks to collect throughout the game for magic-loving Maskless Ones that bring much more to the table than Piercing Wit.
With each respective attack type landed Mask Lines will charge up. Different Mask Lines charge up at different speeds. Different speeds are indicated by certain Italian terms based on classical music terminology, e.g. the fastest speed being Presto, while slower ones include Lento or Adagio.
7
Guise of Spaventa
Stamina For Days
The Guise of Spaventa is achieved by defeating Captain Spaventa the Great, and its main advantage is the load of extra stamina it supplies the Maskless One with. This makes it a good mask for just about any build, though especially for players who like Heavy attacks or opt to use heavier melee weapons that demand larger amounts of stamina to wield in combat. It will also likely be essential to Maskless Ones favoring the Trickster Virtue.
Guise of Spaventa also grants the player access to the Solar Barrage Mask Line while equipped. However, this addition doesn’t make much sense next to the stamina boost, and may turn out pointless for players who use magic, or Ardore, and ranged attacks much less frequently than melee.
6
Guise of Arlecchino
Ardore Galore!
The Guise of Arlecchino is one of the more demanding masks, in that it probably has the most requirements for the player to be able to use it, needing at least a level 20 of every Virtue. Getting your hands on this mask takes work, but it’s worth it for Battlemage builds and those who utilize magic and ranged attacks.

Need a new challenge? Let’s dive into 5 of the best, ranked Soulslike games for PS5.
When actively equipped with the Guise of Arlecchino, Maskless Ones gain access to the Master of Creation Mask Line. This is a strong Ardore spell, through which players can temporarily surround themselves with twisted Ardore and boost their successive attacks. Fittingly, the mask also gives Maskless Ones a superb Ardore buff overall.
For many players, Arlecchino, Master of the Canovaccio will be their final boss, especially on a first playthrough. So you might not get much time with the mask in the course of your first journey through Enotria. Arlecchino also has a lot of health compared to other bosses. Best to come prepared for this fight.

Fauno’s Mask
The Tables Turn
Elements and Elemental Status Effects can be difficult to understand first coming into the game, but once you figure out how they work, you know you want to avoid them or get the upper hand as soon as possible. While they usually have an upside like a little extra stamina or healing, those upsides are not worth dying for. Wicked is the Status Effect inflicted by the Fatuo Element, and allows enemies to regain health from every attack they land on you. In a tight situation, Wicked will quickly lead to your Masked One’s demise.
Fauno’s Mask gives you the ability to change that. When worn and Awakened, this mask infuses Fatuo into your Maskless One’s weapon, allowing them to afflict enemies with Wicked and heal from successful attacks as a result. Furthermore, your Masked One will be immune to Wicked while this mask is equipped. To get this mask, you must complete Fauno’s questline.
The Awakened effects of this mask will also temporarily boost enemies’ other Elemental damages. Be cautious.

Zealot’s Mask
So You Like To Live Life On The Edge…
The Zealot’s Mask is obtained upon completing the Custode Questline. Players with a tendency to live life on the edge should find a special appreciation for this mask, which significantly boosts your physical attack power when your HP is low. If you like a thrill and a little danger but also want to maximize your attacks’ damage and impact, this is the mask for you.
In its Awakened state, this mask has a unique benefit. While wearing the Zealot’s, within its Awakened timeframe, it will protect you from the first fatal/one-hit attack landed by an enemy. Of course, it’s a painfully short timeframe in which this advantage is allowed, but it’s pretty much a guaranteed possibility of quite literally saving your Masked One’s life.

The Gondolier’s Mask
Elemental Status Effects Build
Capitalizing your strength and knowledge in Elements and Status Effects is a respectable way to get ahead in Enotria. Maybe you’re a player who enjoys using this combat strategy yourself. There’s a mask for you. The Gondolier’s Mask is a challenge to procure, requiring the Maskless One to defeat the Master Gondolier in the depths of the Mines of Gratia.
But this mask provides a consistent, overall buff to your Elemental Status Effects. Perfect for a Status Effects build. While Awakened, the Gondolier’s Masks will also help you out some more with a temporary attack boost, which should be fun for players who can effortlessly parry and pull off ripostes in combat even while switching masks.
2
The Guise of Pulcinella
Think Gondolier’s Mask…But Better
The Guise of Pulcinella mask can be extremely powerful under the right circumstances. This mask is the ultimate achievement for an Elemental/Status build, providing a generous constant boost to Elements and their Status Effects’ power. Using this mask also enables the Maskless One to access the elusive Song of Change Mask Line.
Pulcinella is the secret final boss of Enotria’s alternate ending who hides throughout the game as an NPC and might not be encountered during a first playthrough, pretty much barring the player from using his mask then. Pulcinella is an especially difficult boss to overcome, but all the extra effort is made worth it–to the right build–by finally being able to use his mask.

The Guise of Zanni
Bonus Armonia Amber? Say No More
Guise of Zanni quickly became a favorite in the Enotria community, understandably. You don’t necessarily have to be a Soulsborne or Soulslike veteran to truly appreciate extra healing items. Donning the Guise of Zanni automatically yields an extra three Armonia Amber heals, a huge help for keeping your Masked One’s HP up. Also just gets bonus points for style.

The First Mask is a fight which requires movement throughout. We walk you through it step by step.
The Guise of Zanni is obtained by defeating Zanni, the First Mask, a boss of some renown by now. Having this mask equipped also lets you use the Grand Celebration Mask Line. This can be a very effective attack when well-timed and it inflicts Vis Elemental damage when successful. Multiple ranged and magic attacks and skills in Enotria are known for being time-consuming to cast, but this skill might just be the most time-consuming one to execute. It’s advisable to use it wisely, as it’ll make you vulnerable for a few vital seconds.
