Fans of the franchise will be glad to know that this game doesn’t require much storage, since it was released around the time of the PS3 and Xbox 360. Unlike today’s titles that often hit the 200GB mark, players shouldn’t have a problem with Red Dead Redemption size. With this being a fourteen-year-old game, players shouldn’t have a problem playing this game on relatively high settings either, even if they are on a slightly lower machine.
After 14 years of solely being on console, the original Red Dead Redemption has made its way to the PC. Based on the work of an older title Red Dead Revolver, Red Dead Redemption takes you to the land of the Wild West through the eyes of John Marston, a former member of the iconic Van Der Linde gang. Red Dead Redemption followed the path of the highly popular Grand Theft Auto series, with Rockstar wanting to provide an alternative to the modern title.
Let’s take a look at Red Dead Redemption game size and system requirements.
Red Dead Redemption file size
Players will be pleased to hear they are not going to need a lot of storage space to be able to have Red Dead Redemption on their PC. With the modern titles, players will have to pick and choose which of their favorite games can currently be stored on their machine. It’s not always having a full library of games. Sometimes, players can only have four to five games at a time on their machine. For example, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 size is 200GB. That means a 1TB hard drive would only allow another three to four games at max.
For Red Dead Redemption, you only need 12GB of storage space, which is a big difference from the prequel game which comes in at 120GB.
Red Dead Redemption System Requirements
While Rockstar has added some cool features to bring the game into a better light with 4K quality etc, that’s not going to be an option for most of the playerbase, only those fortunate to have a 4K capable machine. The smaller file size suggests that developers made no major adjustments to bring Red Dead Redemption to the PC, indicating that this is only a port from the PC. Nevertheless, players are going to be able to run this game just fine on both the minimum settings and the recommended settings.
Here are the Red Dead Redemption minimum system requirements:
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i5-4670 / AMD FX-9590
- Memory: 8GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 / AMD Radeon R7 360

Furthermore, you won’t need a high-end machine in order to run this game. That doesn’t mean you can’t use a potato for this either. You’ll need enough to allow you to play the game calmly at 60FPS without putting too much strain on the machine.
