Pokemon TCG Pocket Reportedly Making Three Times More Than Pokemon Go

So, you know how opening a new pack of Pokemon cards feels great? It turns out it feels great digitally as well. Why else would Pokemon TCG Pocket be doing so well? The game has been out only for days and has already made over $12 Million – that’s $3 million a day.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Is A Pale Imitation Of The Card Collecting Hobby

Pokemon TCG Pocket is style over substance.

According to a report by mobilegamer.biz, Pokemon TCG Pocket is currently doing even better than the juggernaut that is Pokemon Go, which roughly earns $1 Million a day. Perhaps this is just beginner’s momentum, but if TCG Pocket continues to go on like this, the hierarchy of power in the Pokemon universe is about to change.

That’s A Lot Of Packs

According to the report, a lot of the credit for this goes to the Japanese player base, which accounts for 45 percent of the game’s revenue. That’s hardly surprising, given the immense popularity of Pokemon in its home country. This is followed by the US at 25 percent, Hong Kong and Taiwan at 4 percent each, and South Korea, New Zealand and France at 3 percent of the total revenue.

TCG Card Shop Simulator Thrives Where Pokemon Fails

TCG Card Shop Simulator has gone viral for good reason: it’s succeeding where Pokemon has failed.

However, in terms of playerbase, things are quite different. The US is way ahead at 29 percent of total downloads, followed by Brazil at 11 percent of the total. Mexico sits at third with 6 percent, followed by Japan, Germany, UK and France, each with around 4 percent of the total downloads to date. This difference between regional revenue and downloads just goes to show how much Japanese players are spending on Pokemon TCG Pocket.

Despite its immense popularity, players have complained about the long wait times and expensive items in the game’s shop. However, this was met with The Pokemon Company introducing another show with 50 percent higher prices. Considering Pack Hourglasses and Wonder Hourglasses, which allow players to skip the extensive wait time between opening packs, are only available in this premium shop, we can see why players would spend their money here.

Perhaps players are spending so much in hopes of a God Pack. In a nod to the physical TCG, Pokemon TCG Pocket has included these mythical packs to the game. While the chances of you pulling one are severely low, players have taken to social media to show that they have been lucky enough to pull these elusive God Packs.
