Pokemon TCG Pocket Earns Over $12 Million in Its First Four Days

Although Pokemon TCG Pocket is a free-to-play title, users can spend money to open more card packs each day. Players get one free pack of cards every 12 hours, but completing certain in-game missions will reward users with Pack Hourglasses, which can be used to reduce the cooldown between free packs. As with other gacha games, spending real money will allow players to progress faster, with premium players able to open an average of 205 packs per month compared to free players at around 80 per month. While opening more packs doesn’t necessarily mean a player will find more powerful cards, lucky spenders will often have more advanced decks than those refraining from spending real cash.

As Pokemon TCG Pocket continues to pull in new players, physical Pokemon cards are also seeing a boost in popularity. Recently, Pokemon TCG vending machines have begun popping up around the US, with the kiosks currently found in 14 states. These handy machines come stocked with Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Packs, and other products, with the franchise still finding massive popularity over 25 years after the first wave of Pokemania hit the US.
