New Fortnite OG Permanent Mode Likely Coming Soon
Epic Games had tremendous success with Fortnite OG, which was when they transported everyone back to the gameplay, map, weapons, and more from Chapter 1. It was, for many, the best time in the game’s history, and the nostalgia worked wonders. They had a massive surge in players, but those players haven’t exactly stuck around.
Reload mode was an attempt to provide a permanent mode in the OG lens, but it hasn’t been as popular. Remix sends players back to Chapter 2, but it hasn’t had the same effect so far. Perhaps to that end, Epic Games is working on a permanent game mode with something to do with OG according to leaks.
New Fortnite OG Mode On the Way
Fortnite OG was a huge success for Epic Games, but they have been unable to keep the momentum from it. A surge of players has since left, and even sending players back to Chapter 2 hasn’t brought some of them back. Reload didn’t do it either and now, a new leak suggests Epic is trying again.
A mode codenamed “Figment” was found in the game files. Leakers have said that this is rumored to be another OG mode. ShiinaBR broke the news, saying that it has solos and squads in both Zero Build and Battle Royale. This indicates that it’s a full mode and that it’s an alternative like Reload. Anything else is speculation since there are precious few details.
OG was a success because it took Fortnite players back to a simpler time. It reminded them why they loved the game in the first place, but it was quickly replaced with the ultra-detailed and overly complex style of play that the game is known for now.
This has remained true even for Remix and Reload. Eventually, the interest waned and has sent Epic Games back to the drawing board. Time will tell what they came up with, but they may be utilizing nostalgia once again.
