Mobile Reveals 5th Anniversary Plans

Key Takeaways

  • Call of Duty: Mobile celebrates its fifth anniversary with a new battle royale map and narrative mission.
  • The update includes fresh challenges, new weapons, operator skins, and tarot-themed challenges.

Call of Duty: Mobile has announced its fifth anniversary plans, including a new battle royale map, a narrative mission, and a series of themed events. Since its 2019 release, the app has reached over one billion downloads, so Activision and developer TiMi Studios are celebrating with a host of perks. When Call of Duty: Mobile marks its fifth anniversary on November 6, players in both Premium and free Battle Pass tiers will share in one of the largest updates to the game yet.

The COD franchise made its name on consoles and PC, but it’s leaned further into the mobile market in the past few years. Earlier in 2024, Activision released Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, bringing the fan-favorite battle royale to Android and iOS. Now, it’s bringing new life to its first foray into phone gaming as it celebrates the fifth year and tenth season with an impressive list of new content.

Call of Duty: Mobile starts a new season in the next few days, and with it comes a special crossover turning Operators into fairytale characters.

Call of Duty: Mobile announced the celebration in a blog post and accompanying trailer on November 4. Perhaps the biggest piece of news in the update is the new map, Krai. In addition to providing a new mid-sized battle royale environment, Krai hosts a narrative mission centered around unveiling the zone’s history. As players complete mini-games, they’ll unlock in-game weapons and other rewards. The post makes no mention of the two maps promised to return to Call of Duty: Mobile, but the addition of a brand new one is a welcome surprise.

Call of Duty: Mobile Brings Suite of New Content for Its 5th Anniversary

A new map isn’t the only thing coming to the game, either. While earlier rumors suggested Call of Duty: Mobile was coming to an end, TiMi Studios has spared little for the title’s tenth season. Fresh daily and weekly challenges are coming to the app to give players the chance to earn weapon XP, credits, skins, and weapon blueprints. Speaking of weapons, the game is also introducing the Mythic USS 9, a fusion based on the Season 10 SMG. A teleportation beacon expanding the abilities of the Teleport class, new operator skins, and tarot-themed challenges are all coming to COD: Mobile, too.

Mobile games often don’t get the same level of respect that their console and PC counterparts do. That could be changing as titles like COD: Mobile and Fortnite see success in the phone gaming market. Some fans have even suggested a Call of Duty: Mobile-like game should come to consoles as free-to-play options show they can be just as fun and a lot more accessible. This latest update to the title could further improve that reputation.
