How To Defeat Entarus The Rekindled In Dragon Age: The Veilguard
The Gate Of Faded Glories sees you take on a Champion in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and defeating them will be key to fully exploring the Crossroads. After the very gross act of lancing a massive cyst growing in the overword in the Arlathan Forest region, you’ll be face to face with Entarus the Rekindled.

Since the Entarus the Rekindled is Vulnerable to Fire but Resistant to Necrotic, we suggest taking either Taash or Davrin and either Neve or Bellara to trigger Detonations with you as you take out the Champion. With these by your side, you should be able to grab that Champion Essence in no time.
How To Defeat Entarus The Rekindled
The first thing to note is that the alcove where you find the Blighted Cyst is often guarded by Darkspawn who will be relative to your level, not Entarus the Rekindled, who is 25. So if you leave this until later in the game, you’ll have a bunch of level 45 Greater Hurlock Blighters to take down, so keep that in mind.
Take these enemies out before attacking the Cyst.
Entarus the Rekindled is slow to start the fight, shambling out of the Cyst in a bit of a daze. Since it has Blight Armor, this is the best chance to rush it with Heavy attacks to eliminate that Armor. Once that is done, use a Fire Ability with Taash or Davrin then trigger the Detonation with Neve or Bellara.
Be aware that one of Entarus’ main attacks is to slam its mace down, so dodge away when you see it swing back. Do the same when the ground around Entarus glows red, or a red strip appears on the floor. Both signal that it is about to start an unblockable, high damage attack.
Entarus will also charge at you, which you’ll need to dodge away from as well. However, most interesting are the blue lights above its head. These are spell attacks, and once all five fill up (they recharge over time), they will fire.
These are similar to attacks the Venatori and Shades use, and are an opportunity to dodge forward and attack Entarus while it is exposed.
What Rewards Do You Get From The Gate Of Faded Glories?
As well as the Champion Essence, there are some decent rewards from the Gate of Faded Glories. Playing as a Rogue, we got an upgrade for the All-Mother’s Copse Amulet left in a chest where Entarus fell, as well as four Etheric Remnant, four Pale Ore, 50 Grey Warden strength, and 67 gold.
Again though, the main prize is the Champion Essence, so don’t forget to grab it before you leave the area. This will open the Gate of Faded Glories in the Crossroads.
